Cadence variation between "Run" and "Trail Run" activity

Any reason why cadence information would be different between the Run and Trail Run activities?

My Trail Runs include both summary and detailed (chart) cadence information whereas my Runs show only (incorrect) summary information. For example, on a trail run earlier this week I get a nice chart of my cadence throughout the activity and summary cadence information showing an average of about 182 spm. I completed a run on the street yesterday and received no chart and summary information showing an average of 83 spm. Why would these values differ so greatly?

I am using a Fenix 2 (2.90 firmware) and Garmin Express to upload information. I do not use HRM or HRM-RUN sensors.
  • I presume that you are using Connect Modern since you are using express to upload - I run with a 610 on the classic connect and have never experienced this. Does it happen all the time or is this a one-off?

Try loading the same activity to strava or one of tyhe other similar siites and see what you get there.

    I use a fenix 2 as well.

I haven't gone on a trail run yet, but after a regular run, I got detailed cadence, vertical oscillation, and ground contact data from my device. The only thing I can imagine is that you were;t using the heart rate monitor when you did your run?

Correct; I was not using HRM-RUN during the run workout. The odd thing is that when I perform a Trail Run I obtain accurate cadence data and a graph, but when I perform a Run I do not. Why would it differ? The only thing I can think is that the data pages differ between the Trail Run and Run activities.

    Anyone else having this issue?
  • What happens if you temporarily change the activity type of each of those activities? Is the cadence graph only appearing for the activity marked as a trail run, or is it only showing for he one that was actually a trail run? If the graph stays with the one that was an actual trail run, that indicates that the cadence data might not be complete for the other activity, possibly because different equipment was used.
  • Same to me. " Run" is still bug. Just use "Trail Run" . ?Problem----> Solved!!!!!
