How do I create a course from a previous activity?

That about sums it up.

I'm using the new Garmin Connect interface, I have synced and uploaded my activities, however, I can't figure out how to convert a previous activity into a course.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
  • Open the activity. Above the map is a menu bar with Share/Export/Compare/Send to device/Save as Course/Print

Select Save as Course. Then click Save
  • Perfect! Thanks for the quick response.
  • I can't tell from your comment what you're looking at.  I'm looking at the Garmin Connect mobile app on an iPhone. When I open an activity, there's no menu bar above the map and nothing else with the command choices you outlined.  What I want to do is save a course so I can export it.  Why is everything so hard?

In that case you are on the wrong forum here. This one discusses the Garmin Connect Web interface, not the iOS app!

    Why is everything so hard?

It is not that bad - one click on the cogwheel symbol in the upper right corner of the activity page, and another one on the option "Save as Course"

What I want to do is save a course so I can export it

If you just want to save the track of the activity, you do not even need creating a Course from it. You just export it - for example as a GPX or Google Earth file. It is equally accessible over the cogwheel menu on the activity page.

I don’t have a cogwheel, see screenshot. Any suggestions please?

  • I don’t have a cogwheel,

Because you're on the Garmin Connect Mobile app. This is the Garmin Connect Web forum. The cogwheel is on the web page interface on your Internet web browser: https://connect.garmin.com/. It's much easier to create a course from a previous activity from a computer (PC or mac) than from your phone, but it is possible.

Why don't you just tell him the answer so we can all get on with it?

He wrote the answer, including the exact steps needed to do, shown on the screenshot

  • I completely agree that everything seems to be very hard. This expensive Garmin equipment that I have is the most user-unfriendly gear that I have ever bought. Why can´t one even change the time on that thing. After we switched to winter time, the damn thing still displays the summer time (1 month and multiple rides later). And BTW, I am now using the web version of the garmin connect platform and I still can´t save my activity as a course.
