new "modern" Garmin Connect -- no upload button?

I got an invitation to try out the new "modern" Garmin Connect today, and saw the following:

"Our Garmin Express is the new way to transfer data to and from Garmin Connect. There is no 'Upload' button in Modern."

I am a linux user. I plug my watch in to my computer where it is mounted as a USB mass storage device. I copy the fit files off, and upload them to Garmin Connect using the "upload" button. Garmin Express is only available for Windows/Mac. Can you please keep the "upload" button in the new Garmin Connect?
  • Where did you find the Upload botton in Modern Garmin Connect?

You add the Activities "widget" to your Connect view... or simply go to http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activities and "Import"

Where did you find the Upload botton in Modern Garmin Connect? I tried the link but I could still not find the import or upload botton

I have the same problem. The import in the modern version ask for a file. It will not recognize the USB to upload data from my 305. My operating system is to old on my MAC so I cannot download the garmin express. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will keep the traditional version. This is the only way I can upload my data quickly and easily!

    Garmin!!!
Why oh why??? do you HAVE to mess with a perfectly good web site.
I have to use the old version to UPLOAD from my 305 watch.
Perhaps the new watches AUTO-UPLOAD and this is a deliberate cynical way to get us to buy a new watch by NOT providing an "upload button".

I think this is the reason. Shame on you!!!

Where you can't upload automatically is the only option to still click classic temp and the use the upload button there.
I cycle to work and the garmin express installation is not authorised so I have to use this option.
It would make life a lot easier just to add back in the Upload feature.

Seems like more people not realizing what the complaint is.

Complaint is that the upload button from classic is gone that pulls the data from the device, not the import button where you have to navigate to the file on your own.

Exactly My 405cx is faulty, so until I can get a replacement, I'm using the fitness features on my Oregon 650t goodness knows how many clicks find the file and I can Import fit files to Modern, but what a pain. Switch to classic, click upload, id device, click latest, easy, even a dinosaur like me can do it.

The reason 'upload' has gone is that it's no longer needed, your device using Express will sync automatically. The 'import' button is there to allow Connect Modern to work with devices that aren't supported or to upload files that may not even be on a device.

Rather than folks not realising what the complaint is it seems some aren't learning how Modern works. There is a help page here which many may find useful:
