iPad and modern look Connect. I must be doing something wrong. It's awful!

Well I was so excited. Finally this morning I had my chance to switch to the Modern look.
Can someone tell me who uses an iPad if I am doing something wrong.
It is absolutely appalling. It does not fit onto the page at all. Turned iPad round to see if it was set to one way and exactly the same.
The graphs shown on the right run out of space. For example a run I did last week of 38 mins has the last ten mins or so missing.
Please tell me I am doing something wrong, I do hope so. It is also very jumpy as if it can't figure out how to fit to the page.
It is so bad that I have had to switch back to the Classic view.
Any iPad users out there? Is this normal or do I need to do something in settings or something?
Thanks

The modern view is probably best viewed on a desktop. Simply because it is newer doesn't mean it's aimed at the mobile market. That said, there seem to be many issues with it, so I would expect the responsive design to improve over time.
  • "Modern View" works perfect on my Ipad (Air) no problems what so ever.

I'm curious what you mean by iPad (Air) - are you talking about an iPad or a MacBook Air? They are totally different. I've just loaded up connect.garmin.com on my iPad mini and confirmed that
    (a) The dashboard is disabled entirely - no tiles load at all, navigation is performed via the sidebar between full screen pages only
    (b) Full screen pages load ok, but don't fit perfectly.
    (c) Navigating around, I encountered about 3 bugs in 30 seconds

So yes... I think their mobile integration has got a way to go.

    Here are some screenshots:
What you see on logging in - dashboard disabled by default:
"Sports" Dashboard link is not clickable, sidebar nav did not auto hide:
Activities not properly aligned, search bar stuck in the middle:

That's what Apple calls the latest full size iPad: http://store.apple.com/us/ipad
  • Thanks Everyone, mine is the slightly older ipad 2 and my screens are more like wamberella, nothing seems to line up properly even writing. Words go over the blue border. When it's on the blue it can't be read. Nothing seems to be aligning on the right properly.
Thank you at least I know it's not just me doing something wrong.
I have to say I don't like the very white look, it almost looks unfinished to me. What happened to adding a bit of colour.
I will stick with the old version as long as Garmin will allow me to do so.
Thanks for all your help, have a happy running weekend.

Ahhh, ok I see RE iPad Air. I have a MacBook Air, haven't kept up with the latest and greatest. ;)

So it does seem like there's a different experience across the various iPads at this time. Regardless, though, I took the tone of the initial question to be grounded in a belief that the new "Modern" interface was supposed to be extra slick on mobile, something like if they had developed a dedocated iOS app for iPad instead of just running a browser on a tablet. Which, BTW, I am STILL waiting for!!
  • I don't think they have a specific version for the larger iPad screen, but there is an iOS app, Garmin Connect, already. It performs some of the functions of Garmin Express (you can sync certain devices via Bluetooth) and the web site. Usable, but not great. I actually prefer another iOS app, ConnectStats, for looking at activities on GC. I preferred the old GC, but have stuck with Modern after I made the switch because from what I've read Classic is going away for good soon.
  • Hopefully they will get it a little slicker before the final switch to all modern. I will hang on till then. I have the Garmin app but will take a look at ConnectStats as well. Thank you.
Only had my GR220 for about 6 weeks but loving it. I will never be fast but love checking all the stats at the end of my run. Great motivator even for a middle aged turtle like me.
  • It would be so nice if they could fit more than two dashboard panels on an iPad screen instead of leaving a third of the screen empty...
