Equipment log

Sorry if this is a repeat question. I searched the GC faqs and the forum and couldn't find an answer. I have always used Ascent on the Mac with my prior Garmin products. I use the equipment log to track mileage on my shoes. I recently upgraded to a Fenix 2. It doesn't seem to be compatible with Ascent because it uses .fit only. I do not have the patience to convert my .fit files and import them to Ascent so I have started to use Garmin Connect. It also lets me review the run dynamics.

I can't find any sort of equipment log within Garmin Connect. Is there one?

If not I guess I'll be looking into RubiTrack
  • There is no equipment tracking built into Garmin Connect at this time. Lots of users have complained about it, but it doesn't appear to have gone any further than that.

  • Ascent handles fit format just fine, and it handles the .fit from my Fenix 1 as well as the .fit from my Edge 800. File -> Import -> Garmin Fitness File (fit). Don't have a Fenix 2 to try, but my guess is that the .fit files haven't changed.

On the other hand, apparently Ascent isn't being developed any more, so RubiTrack 3, which I also use, is a great alternative. It's available in the App Store, so easy to get and update.
  • You're right. When it didn't recognize the Fenix 2 in Sync GPS or Garmin Sync Widget I just assumed it wasn't going to work. I can go through import and open my Fenix directly and import the .fit files. A bit more work but definitely doable. I am still considering RubiTrack for in the future but will stick with Ascent for now.

    Thanks for the help
