Garmin Total Time Mathematics?

Could someone please point me to the correct thread as I can't find one, but feel sure I'm not alone with this issue.

I have had a Forerunner 405 for 5 years and never noticed this issue before but the run times in Garmin connect do not match those in my history on the watch. This got me wondering what was going on so I downloaded the CSV file for my latest run to see what the differences are.

Firstly Garmin Connect only records times to a 10th of a second compared my watch which records to 100th of a second, so there are going to be some rounding errors. But interestingly Garmin Maths seems at error. Here's the list of splits and the total from Garmin Connect.

Split Time
1 04:21.30
2 04:08.00
3 04:39.30
4 04:51.60
5 04:54.40
6 04:52.10
7 04:47.80
8 04:53.30
9 04:55.30
10 04:38.70
11 00:01.50
Total 47:01.00

Now do the Maths... the total for those splits is 47:03.30 !!!

How does that happen? Now I've check the moving time too and that's a whole other story of strange incorrect times so I know it's not that... for example one split time was less than than the moving time?!?

Any ideas welcome, but have to admit it's not giving me much confidence to keep using Connect for my training history as it's effectively useless unless I spend further time downloading in to excel and manually correcting.

You'd have thought this is pretty much number one on the to do list when designing a system like this..... but I maybe missing something obvious?
