Your "Elevation Gain" value is not within permissible limits

I'm trying to edit (full edit) an activity but cannot due to a bug in the Garmin website.

The activity is: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/269789345

It's a day skiing, and the elevation gain and loss are:
Elevation Gain: 33,763 ft
Elevation Loss: 34,186 ft
Apparently these values are outside the allowed values for the websites client side validation.

When I uploaded the activity it gave me an activity date of Sat, Mar 31, 2007 5:59 PM (it was actually Feb 4th 2013).
When I try to edit the activity, the only fields I change are the start date and time.
Click Save and get the following errors:
Your "Elevation Gain" value is not within permissible limits.
Your "Elevation Loss" value is not within permissible limits.

I'm sure if I changed them to be less than 32000 this would work!

Garmin: please fix your website!

Thanks
Richard.
  • While I agree that Garmin Connect should allow activities to have elevation gain/loss values in excess of 32000ft, a quick peek at your activity data points out that it is broken pretty badly. Some of the dates are 2007-03-31 and others are 2013-02-04. As you have seen, this will cause problems with your activity data.

If I were you, I'd download the TCX file, fix the date/time stamps and then re-upload the resulting edited activity file.

Edit: Yeah, that worked. I modified the downloaded TCX file and that version appears to work just fine. You can download it here.
