This activity did not cross any segments...

Yes it did! How do I report this to Garmin for them to investigate please?
  • Yep, I've had this several times now also, not sure what is going on, I keep coming back to the activity in the hope that the server will have eventually picked it up. But it didn't.

Not sure what to do about it?

    Dex.

Not sure what kind of immediate action you'd get, as to me Garmin seem to becoming a large 'bloated' company with the accompanied bureaucracy, but filing a support issue is the first step that at least insures the issue is documented............ http://www.garmin.com/us/support/

In the past I've had issues with their support website as I had to be logged into it via myGarmin account, and by the time I finished filling out all the boxes and message, my log in timed out. So unless they've fixed that you might want to copy all your message before submitting so if it times you out, you won't have to re-type it.

Make sure the correct country/region is selected at the top of the page.

I created five or six segments yesterday and am not showing up in the rankings for them at all. Other people are but my own rides which the segments were created from do not get placed. Wish it would work. The feature is totally useless to me this way.

I have the same issue. I see that other people are logging times in my segments, but when I run the same distance, I get the message that "this activity did not cross any favorite/other segments". Quite frustrating. Does anyone know how to fix? My activities are open to everyone.
  • Same here, worked well up until May 1st but hasn't picked up a single(identical) ride since.

It seems to be very slow updating segments.

e.g My ride yesterday didn't show segments I crossed until I checked today and the hill repeats I did today haven't updated yet.

Similarly if you edit or change a segment, recalculating the leaderboard takes a long time - a few hours or more.

So you might find your activities are updated correctly if you check them later - albeit if this feature is only going to get slower as more
segments and more people use it, it won't be worth using.

I don't know what strava is like in that regard. I just use sporttracks and the trails plugin to compare segments I create against myself - I don't
really see much point worrying about stranger's times.
  • Can you guys post a link to your activity and a link to the segment? They should update pretty quickly after uploading the activity.

None of my rides are public, but many of the segments around LU7 on the 'find segment' map, e.g Three locks golf club, Stewkley, Braggers first hill are not updating anything like immediately. Using the 'Me' link obviously, I know my times won't appear on the main leaderboard.

    I note

    (a) Segments take hours or days to update (my ride yesterday hasn't updated yet which has about 6 climbs of Three locks golf club and one of Braggers first) this is true both when you add a new activity and if you edit the segment.
    (b) Delete segment doesn't work. It doesn't seem to delete anything
    (c) Some people seem to have activities in the leaderboards dating back several years. For example Ivinghoe Beacon http://connect.garmin.com/modern/segment/4A787AB253024A969273A918990FA467 has activities in the leaderboard going back years. Yet, I've ridden this segment and my activities don't appear in the 'Me' section

To date I've presumed this is just because you have tons of data going back years to process and that's what is causing the delays?

It's not really much of a feature anyway, and garmin won't beat strava by copying this feature, no more than they'll beat geocaching.com by trying to create their own copy of that. You should have embraced strava with the features in the Edge 1000 - everyone wants your hardware, your software sucks.
  • Looks like the segments are taking about 28 hours to update for me now. It'd be nice to have them realtime but since most of my friends are on Strava I'll just keep sending everything over there as well.

I am seeing strange behaviour with segments. I have created a segment, from a run that I did myself. The leaderboard, when set to "Everyone", shows a list of 6 people who have done the segment, with their times, etc, but does not show me. However, when I select "Me Only" from the list filter box my run is shown, and with a timing that would place me 3rd in the leaderboard.
