This activity did not cross any segments...

Yes it did! How do I report this to Garmin for them to investigate please?
  • Segments from old activities

That's my concern too. The new activities are being processed, as regarding segments, in 24 hours or less (sometimes in a few minutes only). But what about our old activities, which were uploaded before the segment creation? Are they going ever to be scanned for segments?
(If not, it would be useful if this was possible to be done manually for a specific activity. That is, find my old activity where I know my record segment run is, refresh the activity, and the segment appear.)
    Any hint about?
Same issue here. I have some runs ranging in age from a few months ago to a year or more that cover a segment and I've "favourite'd" the segment but under the course segment section in the run they still show up as not crossing any segments. Do the runs have to be after a certain date to be processed?

    Similar problem

    I own Forerunner 110.
Created a bike segment from oct 12 activity and ran trough it again oct 19 and oct 26.
Garmin Connect sees oct 12 and 19 activities croos the segment, but not oct 26 and says 'this activity did not cross any segment' which is wrong.
A sa matter of troubleshooting a possible issue with oct 26 activity, i created a new segment from this activity which is the same as original one. Garmin Connect sees oct 12 and 19 cross this segment, but not oct 26 !!! Therefore i believe there could be a problem with Garmin Connect

Sent an email to Garmin support today. Awaiting their answer ... expected within 3 business days
  • Perhaps it will be updated later. But most probably, not.
Most probably, the saved segment is not enough close to the recorded activity (though it has been created exactly from this same activity!)

That is, because the segment is automatically lined up to the roads of the map.

Whereas, the recorded activity may be not very accurate and may have some distance from the roads of the map. (Or, the maps may be inaccurate, or, your route may be indeed not exactly upon the roads.)

So, the segment may be different from the activity from which it has been created. (You can understand this e.g. if the length differs.) In this case, you are unlucky... (It has been happened to me too. I've run an official marathon and I can't attach it to a segment.)
  • Example, activity from 2014-10-14

Last effort is better than best effort!!! At the end of the segment, the edge indicated that it had achieved a new record (screen medal), but has not updated any information.

In GC the activity shows 'no segment crossed' (today 2014-10-29).

This has happened to me on several segments. In addition, information on best times include hundredths of a second. The times of the last tour, no.

Follow up on my post earlier today

    Regarding Garmin support:
Got an answer to my email within a couple of hours from Garmin support saying they needed more information to investigate the problem and asking me to call back the local support line number in France (my country) .
Got someone on the line in the minute who basically told me he can not do anything for me cause they don’t have access to Garmin Connect software developers.
I asked if he could indicate someone who would be able to help, the answer was no.
Conclusion: the support answer was fast but not very effective, and surprisingly showed no intention to investigate the problem

    Regarding the thread:
So after what Pheidias said after my post (thank you), I opened up oct 26 map activity and zoomed in enough to see that in fact, my ride recorded by the GPS and displayed on the map (red line) was pretty often significantly off the road.
This was absolutely not the case for oct 12 and oct 19 activities, for which the red line representing my ride stays much more on the road.

So, as Pheidias said, the unability of Garmin Connect to see that the oct 16 activity crossed a segment could be because segments are aligned with the roads of the map while the recorded activity is not.
In fact, I believe that for any reason I don’t know my GPS was not as accurate on oct 16 than on oct 12 and 19, which caused the problem.
The segment is ok, it is the recorded ride path shown on the map which is not.

It looks like a hardware issue, ie GPS accuracy is not consistant, but does not happen every time. Why is it some days more accurate than others ? I don’t know.

It could also be adressed by the software making the recorded activity path match the road of the map, as it does for segments.
Anyway, if anyone from Garmin supports reads this and is capable and willing to do something to improve Garmin Connect-which is a very nice - feel free to contact me I would be happy to contribute.

I think garmin wants to do lot of things without know how to do... and i also think they don't care about all the problems the users have with devices, application and site

when the segments started, i created one of them using my activity... and i'm not in the ranking... it says that i never complete it...
then... i made a course with three segments... i made the best time on the first of them (i'm using edge 810 3.24 with segments activated) and when i uploaded the completed activity, it says that i wasn't passed through it...
then, on a segment near my home (a 9,5km uphill) garmin says that i completed it 4 (FOUR) times and strava says i completed it 60 (SIXTY)

Over a year later, still encountering this issue. Any resolution?
  • Not only this, but some crosses of segments that were previously found in some of my activities have been disappeared/cancelled...
I 've found this out because I've seen that my record time I had for more than a year at a specific segment, suddenly has been worse; I searched my old activity, which had my segment record time (for more than a year, as said before), and now I see "no segment crossed".

It's a problem because of the accuracy of the GPS...

    Perhaps time to fix i?
