Match Uploaded activity to planned workout

Is there a way to have GC match an uploaded activity to a planned workout on the calendar?

Here is the way I would like it to happen (which is how other sites like TrainingPeaks do it).

- I create a training plan and add the planned workouts to the calendar.
- I send those workouts to my Garmin device (910XT).
- I complete the workout on the day it is scheduled on my GC calendar.
- I upload the activity to GC.

At this point it would be nice if GC would match the uploaded activity to the planned workout so that they show as one entry on the calendar. (Bonus would be if it showed planned vs. actual metrics)

Currently my calendar shows 2 entries; the planned workout and the uploaded activity.

Please! I've been wanting this feature practically since day 1 with my 610. Frustrating as all hell to see those duplicated workout entries. We can't be the only people who think this is a logical request?!

Geez, I just thought I was doing something wrong. You mean you CAN'T "complete" a scheduled workout to have the two combined? That's nuts.

The duplicate entries are absurd and clutter up the calendar. I noticed that only junior members have kicked this around. Have any of you gotten a better answer from a Garmin support type?
  • I totally agree. That's why I've used Training Peaks in the past. It also seems weird that there is the ability to load "Workouts" into the Garmin unit...but yet you can't download the Garmin "Training Plan" into the device. Why are these 2 things even separate? Each training plan event should become a "Workout" and then you should be able to complete them or match/combine them with an "Activity" you've done.

If you have a training plan (just a series of workouts organized over a period of time), you can upload the entire thing to most Garmin devices. When you turn on the device, or when you go to the workouts screen on the device, it will inform you if you have a scheduled workout and you can opt to do the workout then or to skip it.
  • @Travis - that's right but I think only answers half of STBENTLEY's question - what is annoying is the way that the workout although executed from the plan doesn't match up with the scheduled workout in the calendar so you get one entry for the scheduled workout and a second separate one for the actual executed workout. This is just annoying clutter but doesn't affect the functioning.

This feature would be great, I plan my workouts, send them to my 910 do the workouts then send it back to connect. It should know that I just did the workout, it's in the scheduled training on my device so that data is there. Also after looking at the scheduled workouts once completed my 910 shows a checkmark on there indicated it was completed, so that data is in the device as well. Would be really nice to clean up the calendar after instead of having to just manually delete the workout.
  • I (and everyone I know) want this too. Anyone listening at Garmin?

Heh. I was searching for what I was doing wrong that was creating the duplicate activities in the calendar, but, alas it is a missing feature. It must suck for Garmin to have so many software engineers as customers. RunKeeper figured out how to do it, so it couldn't be that hard.
