Viviofit heart rate monitor

I have just started using a Vivofit with heart rate monitor but I cannot sync the heart rate to my Connect page. I am following the instructions exactly but my Vivofit doesn't always do as the instructions suggest. Sometimes I cannot find the Heart option on the Vivofit and when I do sometimes it does not flash the heart. Even when the heart does flash it does not sync and I have no heart info on my Connect page. I am wondering if my Vivofit is faulty. Any help and suggestions most welcome.
