Uploading activities in the modern view

This might seem like a very dumb question but in the modern view how do you upload activities? In the classic view there is a little upload button at the top right of the dashboard which is what I've always used and, for now, I can switch to classic and upload in this way but how do you do it "properly"?
Ok, I did try that but got a bit thrown by the Choose File bit which seemed to want me to import a file from my PC (rather than my device) but it looks as though if I navigate about to removable disk J (or whatever) I can find the most recent .fit file on my device to import. I will try that next time but obviously it was easier just to click on one button that did it all for me.
Ok, well it does seem that I have to manually navigate to the file rather than clicking one button that did it all for me. Just don't call it progress.
