corrupted fit file - forerunner 110

Hi, i just tried to upload the nice semi marathon activity on via connect and the upload does not work.
strangely same issue happened to a friend of mine who has the same garmin forerunner 110 a couple of days ago.
i see there ios a fix tool but i see it works on windows and i have a mac. can anyone help?
also how this happen? in one year and half this is the first time i experience this issue.

attached is the file btw. if someone can fix it for me pls (it is my personal record on a semi marathon too... :-\)

Hi,

Just too a look at your FIT and it has exact the same issue as I have. check: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?83973-TCX-is-corrupt-and-had-strange-characters-when-openeing

Hope we can find a solution for this but for now... I'm a bit clueless... the only solution for corrupt FIT/TCX files are a corruption in the XML itself which can be adjust manually.. but this is not going to work in this case.

you can download a repaired version of your file from https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/91455145/2014-04-27-09-30-41-fixed.fit.
I had to change the GPS positions some meters to the west and also some meters to the north due to Garmin Connect's problems with certain GPS positions at the moment.
Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool version 5.18 and some manual work.

Just ran the demo of filefitrepairtool and I see the tool can recover the corrupted file...
But 39euro to fix 1 tcx is maybe a bit too much for me!

the elevation looks a bit funny but it is good anyway as my main thing was to get the time by km to compare it with the previous year.

i will download the tool on my work pc and have a go to see if i manage to do it myself in case it happens again (hope not as it is very frustrating :-/ )

for info: what exactly did you change to make it work?

Hi Massi,

I run the same race on sunday and I have the same problem as you.... my FIT file is corrupted ( i think it when we went trough the channel).... I could load it on strava (I am sorry that garmin can't cop with the issue but strava can....)
Anyway I really want my race to be laoded on gramin, I try yesterday to use Fit File Repair Tool version 5.18 but as it was the trial version it put dummy value for the last half of my file, so it's not a solution for me. Matthias can you tell us what change to make to make the file work? Do you have a trial version? Can I try to change the TCX file instead?

I changed all GPS positions in your file - some meters into the west and some meters into the north and did an upload test into my user account which worked well.
