Getting Bizarre Elevation Readings.

When I import a run I'm getting elevations in the thousands of meters. Doesn't seem to happen when I import walks. FR 220

Elevation Gain: 17,109 m
Elevation Loss: 17,110 m
Min Elevation: -7,866 m
Max Elevation: 13 m

I have a 405. And am experiencing bizarre elevations which vary whether the results are viewed in iOS app 2.2 or Garmin connect for windows 7

On May 6th a run which both iOS & connect reported a max and min elevation of -32,767m. Connect said 0m elevation gain. Both graphically showed a ~6600m flat line elevation.

A run today reported a min of 5 and max of 100,000m. Graphically the elevation was varied.

Is there an additional fix coming?

I have a 910XT and have had elevation issues just since 4/30 but still today it is not fixed. It has a spike at first and then flat lined but the data even on strava shows this spike and then flat line.

Was hiking in Yosemite two days ago, elevation and distance were way off on both my 310XT and upload. Moderator said to reload the data. Can someone please tell me how to do that? Also read that the raw file could be fixed. Does anyone have instruction? Thank you!

    Here's the upload-

I am using the 910XT and on the 10th of May did a 50 Mile cycle and the correct elevation / calories were reported on the device but the following day when I did a 10K run on the Shannon Estuary where we are pretty much at sea level but when I uploaded to Garmin connect I had an elevation gain of 20,447ft

I did a cool down run today and had an elevation gain of over 6,000ft.

When I looked at my location on the device it was reading between 160 - 200 ft. but when I looked at my last run in the area the report was:

I too am seeing crazy elevation and caloric info too. My 910 has been working fine up until the last few weeks. Even having issues with ANT connection and the upload of the last week's events. Anyone else having upload issues?
  • I'm seeing this in an activity from last year that somebody asked me for, it was fine before but now shows a 12km high spike in the elevation data! I've tried disabling/enabling 'Elevation Corrections' but makes no difference. Can't upload load the file again as it's long gone from the watch.

I've exported the tcx file & imported it into Strava where it looks fine so would appreciate some suggestions as to how to fix this?
  • It sounds like the barometric altimeter has failed for some of you. If the reported elevation is crazy high, you should call Garmin Support and describe the problem. They will take you into the diagnostics menu where they will ask for information about the presented data. They will be able to tell you if the barometric altimeter is having problems, and if so they may replace the device (with a refurbished unit if yours is out of warranty). I've had 3 or 4 of the 910XT fail with altimeter problems and the support staff has offered to replace the device every time without question.
