Getting Bizarre Elevation Readings.

When I import a run I'm getting elevations in the thousands of meters. Doesn't seem to happen when I import walks. FR 220

Elevation Gain: 17,109 m
Elevation Loss: 17,110 m
Min Elevation: -7,866 m
Max Elevation: 13 m

    G'day,

I've had the same problems (as well as some runs just not uploading at all), however the elevation data is fine for the same runs in Strava. Have emailed Garmin, but no response as yet... FR 610.

    Cheers,
    DS
  • I'm having the same problem since 22.Apr - FR610. Does anyone knows why?

I have a Fenix 2, and on my last upload none of the elevation data even shows up in Garmin Connect, although the the summary data on the watch looks good. I wonder if it has to do with a recent update to the Garmin Express application.

Same problem in the last 2 weeks, elevation # is off the charts I have a Garmin Forerunner 210. I have updated all of the available software, no difference on any of my subsequent runs after the updates. Any advice?

    Elevation Loss: 195,354 ft
    Min Elevation: -31,534 ft
    Max Elevation: 43 ft

Just noticed this too. Obviously quite a widespread issue. Since the latest update perhaps? Garmin FR220

I too am getting these bizarre elevation readings, with random spikes of thousands of meters. When uploaded to Strava, this don't show up. They also don't show up in the .GPX or .TCX files.

I have been getting the same bizarre readings in elevation with my FR 220. I did a run circuit with a few big ascents and descents and have an elevation gain of 9698m, elevation loss of 9703m and a minimum elevation of -9381m (under water).

    Same here,
Last correct elevation reading was on 21st. All activities since then have massive spikes. I have a 310XT.

Not sure if it's the cause or somehow related but when I disabled elevation correction for one of the activities loaded since 21st the elevation gain and loss seem to be correct but elevation graph is still way off. Has massive spikes to 9000m.
  • Sorry for the inconvenience! We had an issue affected elevation (mostly near the coastline) which should now be resolved. If you notice any erroneous elevation values on activities uploaded between 4/22 and 4/29 at 3:15pm CST, please try re-uploading your activities and that should correct the issue.
