How to upload activities in the new modern view?

I like the look of the new "Modern view" Garmin Connect, but trying to work out how to do what I have done in the old version!

I'm struggling to find a button to upload my activities. I can see an area for my devices and it seems that using Garmin Express, I can identify the devices, but it seems that when I do that, everything will just sync automatically. Sounds good, but it's not what I want. I share an Edge bike computer with my wife, so we only want to upload our own activities. Not a problem previously as we could select "Upload selected activities", but it now just wants to sync everything. I'm sure the facility must be there somewhere to upload only selected activities from the device - please can someone point me in the right direction.
  • Back to the original question, how do you handle 1 watch being used by 2 people and 2 garmin accounts?

I assume with Garmin Express uploading automatically it can't cope with 2 garmin accounts?
  • As far as I can tell it cannot. It uploads all activities to the account that the device is associated with. If you want to do this, you'll need to manage your activities and do manual uploads using the Import link on the activities page.

I am using Garmin Express on a MAC with an ANT stick and it appears to sync ok and says it is uploading to Garmin Connect. But it doesn't. The last activity is shown as 8th April 2014. Any ideas as to how I can fix this please? Thanks. Grahame

My Activities seem to upload and when you click 'view data at garmin connect' you see the last most recent activity but then when I click to all activities I am missing the last weeks worth of data, where is it going and why is it not showing? Been far too many bugs from the start and this is a basic task it should be handling. I've no inclination to bother with the rest of the software if it is struggling to display my activities..

Any help?!?!? Garmin Swim watch is all I have, uploading through ant stick.

I'm having issues with this too on my Forerunner 10. I downloaded Garmin Express and connected my device and synced the activities, it said it synced successfully, however my activities are not showing up on Garmin Connect. I tried this multiple times and it didn't work. Finally, I just went ahead and manually uploaded all my activity (38 in total) and that did the trick.

Any ideas on how to get this to actually work on Garmin Express?
  • If you believe this issue is related to Express please post in the Express forum ... there is an active Garmin team there, but not here.

any of you guys know if there's a way to set a default activity type when uploading from a file?
  • You set the activity type when you start recording. With a device that supports different activity types, you set the activity type before you start the timer. The activity type is stored in the generated file, and when you upload to Garmin Connect, that becomes the activity type displayed. If you are using a device that doesn't have an activity type option (say a running device like the FR10), it is always set to running because that is all the device is capable of doing. If you were using a Garmin Swim, the activity type would be swimming.

There have been requests to add an option to set the default activity type recently. I don't necessarily like the idea because the current system seems to work just fine if you are using a device that is appropriate for the activity you are recording, but I'm assuming that there are some use cases that I'm not thinking of that make this feature sound appealing.
  • It said it synced successfully, however my activities are not showing up on Garmin Connect. I tried this multiple times and it didn't work. Finally, I just went ahead and manually uploaded all my activity (38 in total) and that did the trick.

There have been mentions of similar problems by users for weeks. From the sound of it they found out that they had somehow created a second multiple accounts on Garmin Connect with the same username and that Garmin Express is uploading activities to that second account. I'm not sure how they resolved the issue, but if I were affected, I'd try to re-associate my Garmin Connect account to the device in Garmin Express. If that didn't work, I'd call Garmin support.

Why do they constantly take working products and break them?

This is my third Garmin device.

You answered your own question there.

They write bad software because people keep buying their devices in spite of it.
