Is there a way to "fix" or edit a map after a run?

Used my new device for the first time today - YAY! :D

After run, successfully uploaded data to Garmin Conenct with no issues - also YAY! :D

During the first half mile of my run, though, the device jumped around a little with the satellite connection. I knew there was an issue when my first 1 mile lap notification came in WAY too early and my distance was off for the rest of the run. No biggie while I was out there. Looking at the map, I can see that the starting green bubble thingy is way off and that there's a zigzag thing on the map. Have had similar using runkeeper in past with smartphone and you can easily edit the map to put your path on the actual route you ran. How do I edit the map after the run in Garmin Connect? I was able to edit the total distance of the run to make it more accurate, but the splits and times (and PRs) are still off due to that early GPS glitch.

Yes. I googled it and found a link to a handy garmin website (in Germany I think) that converts your fit file into a css file. You can then edit it and convert it back to a fit file.

Thanks! That sounds kinda complicated. I was hoping for something simpler. Maybe the Garmin folks will add the feature one day. In the meantime, it's not that big of a deal.
    Thanks again! :)

I don't think its really that complicated. Program converts your gps file into a file that a simple text editor can read (eg notepad). You open file in notepad, edit as you wish. Save file. Reload into GPS.

The .css file includes all the trackpoint info from the trip in a line by line format. Easy to edit.
  • Strava (free version) allows you to trim the data. You can export from Garmin Connect (or use the .fit file from the watch), upload to Strava, trim, export and import back to Connect.
  • In my case, I do not only need to trim the path, but to fix it because the GPS goes far away from the real path, specially when running in forests or irregular places.
