Regularly upload .tcx files into the "NewFiles" folder before big rides, and always on my machine using Ubuntu 12.04. The device is seen as a mass storage device and am always careful to unmount/eject before unplugging. Also have installed a Garmin Communicator plugin for Firefox. The device has never been a problem in the past. However, I recently re-cycled the battery (full drain to 0%, and then charge to 100%) to recalibrate the battery life indicator, and once I powered on, one of the Courses I had just uploaded (and had successfully tested before the battery cycle) was now an "invalid course". When I plugged in my Garmin to my computer to re-upload the .tcx file to the NewFiles folder, I received an error message that the drive is read-only.
I got around this by switching to my Windows partition (I dual-boot), and was able to re-upload the course. However, I cannot figure out how to allow the permissions in Ubuntu to allow me to read/write files like I have been able to up to this point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I barely use my Windows partition (mainly for iPhone/iTunes, or specialty software), and not being able to read/write in Ubuntu is worrisome. Thanks!
