Hi,
I have had a 64st for around 3 weeks now and am having a few problems i could do with a bit advice on please.
I upgraded to the 64st after many years using the 705, the 64st has some fantastic functions and finds a signal a LOT quicker and a LOT easier, problems i'm having are:
1/ Whenever i start a walk the device automatically uses the last point of my previous walk as a start.
I've tried going into "trip computer" "Menu" "reset" but as soon as i start walking it still uses the old stop point as the first start point.
2/ I can't find any way of starting or stopping a datalog of a route.
On a multiday hike with the 705 i simply hit the stop button and the datalog for that route stopped, the following day i pressed start and everything was great.
With the 64st i can't find any way to stop start a route except to turn off the device, turning off the device is not convenient because i often turn it on during the night to review the data and route.
3/ I can't find any way of locking out the keys like the 705 has.
I place the device in a pouch on the strap of my rucksack, it's a elasticated pouch but not really tight, several time i've come to check the device and found it turned off.
With the 705 i simply locked out the keys and i had no problem.
4/ The GPS signal seems extremely unreliable.
We stopped off for a lunch break and were sat down the entire time, my Samsung Galaxy S4 was being used to log the walk with Endomondo (please see problems #1 and #5 for why i use the phone to log the walks now), Endomondo had us stationary, the 64st had us walking 6 km the hour or so we were sat down.
It's not the first time either, i've had the same on a summit, we stopped to take pics and the 64st had us walking around, we were doing over 500mph at one point apparently.
5/ Seems like a common problem, but i can't upload to Garmin Connect and i can't upload to Endomondo as the ap tells me i don't have the right drivers, been to your support page and there are no drivers for this device.
6/ In a wooded area we often hike i cannot get a signal with the 64st, my S4 phone has never lost a signal in the same area the year or so i've owned it
I've enabled WAAS and EGNOS but it's still the same.
7/ My S4 locks onto to satellites within seconds, the 64st took 3mins on the previous hike
8/ Could well be a problem with the S4 as these phones are not without their bluetooth problems, but i cannot connect the 64st to my phone, the phone does not see it at all.
My Xeperia tablet see's the device in bluetooth, so the bluetooth is working on the 64st, the S4 just doesn't see it at all though.
I bought the 64st because the GLONASS of the S4 impressed me and i've had years or good service from the 705, unless i'm missing something (read through the instructions for all the above but couldn't find anything) it seems as though i now have upgraded to a device that's not as good as either my old 705 or S4.
Hopefully i'm missing something as right now i have a device that i can't depend on accuracy wise, can't upload data, turns off, drops signals, inaccurately reports start/stop points and seemingly has a worse GPS connection than my S4 phone.
