Export to google earth not working?

I uploaded some tracks from my forerunner 10 over the weekend and now I cannot seem to get them to export to kml. I just get an error saying that the website is not found in chrome.

Attempting to download tracks from before this weekend worked just fine.
  • I uploaded data from Strava and was unable to do a Quick Edit, however, I was able to do a Full Edit.
The problem is that I cannot export those runs as a tcx (nor a gpx for the sake of trying), using Chrome on a Mac.

No webpage was found for the web address: http://connect.garmin.com/proxy/activity-service-1.1/tcx/activity/480925993?full=true
    Error code: ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

Data that was uploaded directly from my Edge 305 exports without a problem.

I tried in Firefox and received a similar error:

Firefox can't find the file at http://connect.garmin.com/proxy/activity-service-1.1/tcx/activity/480925993?full=true.
Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

You should be able to drag and drop files into Google Earth, does that work for you?

That isnt what I am trying to do, I want the kml file so I can then load it into ArcMap to put into a custom map document.

I'm having the exact same problem. My current Garmin device is the Forerunner 10 but I suspect this is device independent. For a long time after all of my runs I have chosen the Garmin Connection option "Export -> Google Earth" which creates a .kml file. I am happy with that feature. However a few months ago one run simply would not work for this - but subsequent runs did. Recently almost all of my runs cannot be "exported to Google Earth" using this feature - I get exactly the same error described by the original poster. I have tried exporting to TPX and GPX and these do work, however Google Earth for whatever reason treats these differently (won't go into details - but most important is that I cannot compare the course of all of the runs in these files at once).

This problem has been around for a while and is clearly a Garmin Connect application problem. It seems to affect only certain activities, not others, but once affected the activity can never be exported to the kml Garmin Connect file. And it seems to be occurring more frequently. If you want examples I have many of them uploaded, including ones dated April 17, 18, 19, and 20.
  • I've just noticed the same issue with one of my recent activities. Those immediately before and after this "bad" activity can be exported to kml format, yet for some reason "connect.garmin.com/.../560690101 fails for this event. Reloading the activity data directly from my 310XT and manually from a gpx file exported from Garmin Training Center did not solve the problem. All of my activities, though, can be exported in Garmin Connect to tcx and gpx formats.

Interestingly, the failed activity is the only one with "--" for Elevation Gain in Activities Summary. Perhaps this relates to the inability of Garmin Connect to export this data to Google Earth? As a workaround, I am able to export this activity to Google Earth via Garmin Training Center, although the resulting entry in Google Earth Places is not as nicely formatted as when exported from Garmin Connect. From Google Earth Places, you can save the activity as a .kml file.

    Hi All,

Similar error. Cannot export selected rides from GC to Google Earth. I cannot see what differs one activity from the other.

HTTP Status 500 - Couldn't marshall the activity to KML.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    type Status report
message Couldn't marshall the activity to KML.
description The server encountered an internal error (Couldn't marshall the activity to KML.) that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

Google Earth export problem (Garmin Forerunner 220)

Same here. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that I cannot export my runs to Google Earth anymore. I get an error message and if I ignore it I can't see the path I run and all laps fall on the same spot. This is clearly a Garmin Connect issue; is someone from Garmin reading these messages?

Same here. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that tracks from two different garmin devices cannot be seen on google earth any more. How can i solve this problem?
  • Same problem here... Activities before certain date are flawlessly exported to G.Earth.
  • Google Earth displays all track points of the exported files at the same location.
Problem occured between march, 8 and march,12. Older activities are displayed correctly.
