Searching for issues around the new unit, and related topics, I come across a post by a user asking how to remove a Garmin installed file.

The response he received by a moderator was:

This is a device issue and unfortunately there are no forums here for device issues. Try here http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=11 where geocachers should be able to help.

This question was no more a device issue than any of the rest of the posts on here about files and such that are handled by other Garmin units.

This is supposed to a be a Garmin forum, when a user has an issue or question about any of the consumer related units, they should be able to come here, post a question, and get a responsible answer and let the thread stay open so some assistance and or feedback can be provided.

To send them off to another site, be it groundspeak or any other is irresponsible and somewhat strange. This is not an exclusive forum for just a specific type of unit, and if so, take the label off.

Please explain to my why this is so.

Where else are supposed to go to figure out, report bugs, work on or share solutions on these units other than here?
  • You're misinformed. Whatever plans Garmin has for it in the future, this was a forum for Garmin fitness devices. Edge, Forerunner, and now Vivofit. There are also software forums, and some developer forums. There are no forums here for Garmin automotive, motorcycling, hiking, aviation, etc, units.

Then change the name to something more specific rather than use up the Garmin name to only apply to a nitch market.

Issues are the same, no matter what unit we are talking about, and the lack of the ability to effectively communicate with other users about the use, and functionality of Garmin units is reduced to zero because of the way the site is utilized. As I read the posts, many are the same items regardless on unit, and they all have the ability to be used for "fitness'
