You have no device on Garmin Connect / Edge 810 / MS IE11 - Windows 7

Modern prompts: You have no device on Garmin Connect
Switch to Classic - my Edge 810 is detected.
I updated/loaded Garmin Express - all updates current, although I see no user option or properties linking Express with Connect.

Modern Connect has a link for "Add a device using Garmin Express."
'Which takes me back to the Garmin Express upload, which I already did.

Can't find anything in Troubleshooting or FAQ's.

How does Express and Connect integrate?
Express seems to be an interface to update the device for software and firmware
Connect appears to be a database to store and analyze data.
Do these two programs/apps communicate???
Why does the Connect Modern layout direct you to Express to add a device?
Why does Connect Classic recognize my 810 but Modern does not?

It appears some work remains unfinished on Connect Modern.
Pls don't disable Classic.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my Edge 510 and can't find anything online to fix it. Reverting back to Classic for now.

Same with me and Mac OSX. If not fixed can't use Garmin once classic is removed. What's the deal Garmin?
  • There are quite a few factors that could be involved. The most common is users creating multiple accounts through Garmin Express, along with the Social Sign in there are plenty of opportunities to do so. If everyone has added the Edge to Garmin Express and Synced it with an existing Connect account, open Garmin Express click on the Device menu, then scroll down to the Garmin Connect Account section. Click Go to Garmin Connect.

That will open a web browser and take you to the account the device is syncing with. Click the profile icon on the left to see the username and account settings.

Thanks Curt. I guess I just assumed that since classic knew my device the new one would too. I'm not a complete moron so perhaps a splash screen to advise users to download AND RUN the Garmin Express program would help. Like all things when you know all about something you miss the steps when explaining to the newbies.

Same problem with Oregon 450t. I need to use the classic interface to upload my tracks.

Express fully recognizes my devide but Connect reports that "You have no device on Garmin Connect. Add a device using Garmin Express." which links to the download page of Express.

I've deleted the Device from Express and scan it again always registering with the username (my email address) I use in Connect too.

In my case in the Express device page there's not any "Garmin Connect Account section" !! Attached is a screenshot of my Express interface.

Please, do not remove the older interface or we will be unable to upload activities to Connect

  • Agreed with CLUIS, My oregon does the same thing. I read in the FAQ that only sport devices are supported. If the classic interface goes away and I can't continue to upload my Oregon 450 tracks as I've done now for years Garmin will certainly lose me as a customer.

Please add support for the Oregon series. It is a requirement for your users.

    THEOTHERDAVE:

While Garmin solve these issues, I've found that in the Activities page of the new interface there's a link "Import" at the top right corner that allows to upload GPX files from your computer.

As the Oregon presents itself to Windows as a USB drive, it's easy to navigate to the directory \Garmin\GPX of the device and manually upload the tracks.

Not the most elegant way of doing things however.

The same problem with my Edge 500. Garmin Express says I'm connected, but my device is not recognized by Garmin Connect. And I can't find a "Garmin Connect Account" section in Garmin Express. I've run the new install for Garmin Express and done all updates.
