I've tried the new "modern" version of the Garmin Connect website and I understand that it doesn't have a built-in upload function but rather requires users to download and install Garmin express. I use my Garmin at work where I can't install 3rd party software so this new interface renders my device useless. Please bring back the ability to do manual uploads without the need for software installation.
I have tried multiple times over the last 2 days to manually upload strava gpx files and it errors and won't upload. I have tried this in classic and modern without luck. Any ideas?
It looks like the import functionality is broken right now. Normally you'd be able to download a gpx file from Garmin Connect and re-upload it, but even that doesn't work.
I've been using various versions of Garmin Connect since before Garmin even bought it, and the "Modern" version is absolutely the WORST POS I have seen for a fitness software system. I don't want a freaking "Facebook" or "Twitter" experience. I want to be able to look at my workouts, generate reports, and track progress.
This new "Modern" thing is an abomination. A bunch of cute little widgets that don't really give me near enough information. Reporting is abysmal.
I don't just not like it, I detest it, and it causes me pain to even look at it. I will use the "classic" version until I can find a third-party tool that meets my needs. I like Garmin devices, but the direction that Connect seems to be going is the exact opposite of my needs and wants.
Obviously the modern interface is still a work in progress and I'm sure the GC development team are working to reintroduce all the features that are currently missing. I doubt they were keen on the staggered launch of the modern interface that they've found themselves in, but I guess their hand was forced by the launch of the vivofit.
As for the most critical part of it all, the activities pages where you go to analyse your training, I'm not impressed thus far. At the moment it looks nothing more than a facelift so to speak, all the same elements just transposed onto a new page with a snazzy title bar and background. I seriously hope that isn't going to be the sum of their ambitions, because it is truly awful, has been so for a long time and is way overdue an overhaul. I'm sure it's been discussed to death on here, but the elevation and speed graphs are a complete joke, tracking maps lack even the most basic features and basic data analysis features missing.
I'm just hanging on with GC until the modern interface launches fully and if these basic things haven't been addressed, I'll be off somewhere else.
