I see the new front end. But have no idea where the upload button has gone.
I upload and edit with the old version, click on "Switch to Modern" and then view through that portal.
Anyone found out where the upload button had gone? I can't upload with the new version and have gone back to the old version. Seems pretty dumb not to have an upload option?
No Upload button on New Look site, which is pretty, but also pretty useless.
The Help files make no reference to how to do it, or find it. Typical Garmin. I wish I had not bought my Garmin Edge Touring. A waste of money if you can read a map.
Stick with the old site.
You do use Garmin express but I wouldn't bother with the new look, it is very poor, slow and ungainly, i could continue but suffice to say the user interface is appalling
In the new (modern) Garmin Connect - there is an "import" function on the activities page - http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activities (if you've been migrated to the new - otherwise it won't work for you) - no need to faff about switching back to "classic"...
Hi this is my first post as I've just discovered the forum. I've been using Connect for about 2 years with my Edge500 for running and cycling. I am moved to comment that the 'modern' user interface, which seems to have been forced upon us all, is the most appalling, clumsy and hard to use tool I have had the misfortune to use.
The old connect worked great - it did what I needed it to do. I logged my exercise, analysed it, uploaded to it. Why fix something that's not broken? For the sake of looking clever!
I'm now at the stage where I'm seriously thinking about using another tool on the web to manage my exercises, and if that means dumping the garmin device then so be it.
Hopefully I can continue to use the 'old' version, but the fact that it allows you to switch 'temporarily' sounds ominously like it will be switched off before long.
I agree with all the above. Even the upgraded software on the device is hopeless as it takes forever to locate satellites whereas before mine was really quick. I am very disappointed and wish I could return to the old interface. Any ideas how I can do that, please?
This thread is about Connect. If you have a device issue please post in the relevant forum, but if you're having issues with any device after a software upgrade a master reset normally resolves it, so try that first.
I have to agree with the posts saying that the Modern View is clumsy and almost useless. I am a new user, and was given the Modern View as default. However, once I found the 'switch to Classic temporarily' I have been using that - even though I have to switch each time I log in. The reports are clear (and useful), the navigation is easy, and overall it's quick and simple to use. Why don't we have the option to choose which we want to use, and stick with it? I do NOT want to be forced into the Modern View later this year as the 'New Features' states. Hopefully Garmin reads these comments ...
Its horrendous - agree with all of the above. And it has lost functionality. When you try and run a report on progress summary it won't let you filter on specific activity. The weight tracking function used to let you track and see a graphical history since you started entering weight and now it limits it to 1 year. Those are just two of the examples. Will someone from Garmin please respond to what is being done to fix these bugs?
I guess the thing is... that Garmin deploys the new web site piece by piece probably following any of these agile programming methodologies. So, I'd expect to see additional capabilities over time. Having said that... the stuff that is customer facing today needs to deliver a valuable use case, means pass a user acceptance test. Am afraid some components should not have passed such tests... Example? Ok: I can't add my device as Garmin Express does not work with my 310XT and I can't add it manually. This and probably most of the "bugs" reported in this tread are likely classified as ERs by Garmin. Though, for users these are not enhancement requests, they are regressions because we compare with the old UI. In any event, while the new look&feel appears to be a promising concept, as a user I rate the deployment rate of new capabilities to be a bit... low... sorry... Will wait just another month but move on in Sep. (Hope I can download all my activities in one chunk then...) Btw: how do I get back to the dashboard with a single click? Probably very easy and I'm just totally blind... Bottom line: brilliant concept with loads of potential. Please deploy a lot faster... :-)
I have no idea what the development schedule or development process is like at Garmin. I'd hope that regardless of which system they are using, every bug/enhancement is prioritized and resolved in a priority order. I'm guessing that the development group is small and possibly even new to the technologies (the original Garmin Connect team was let go a few years ago). The only thing we can do is let them know when we find issues (using the normal support channels), wait for the appropriate fixes, and vote with our wallets.
