Garmin Connect Upload Failure

I am using a Dakota 20 and have been uploading to Garmin Connect for some time.

I had some USB connection issues with my home computer (USB hub seems to have failed) hence connected the unit directly and it mounts.

The issue is that the current GPX file will not upload to Connect, either manually or by selecting the unit.

I brought the Current GPX file into BaseCamp and tried to upload from there - this failed. I therefore deleted the current GPX file, as I assume it was in some way corrupted and following a bike ride have tried to upload again - still failed.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
  • I haven't been able to upload from the GC website either, but i was able to use the discontinued Garmin training center app on my mac to send my activity to GC.

Today Garmin Connect doesn't accept gpx-files from my eTrex 10. Or files exported from Strava or gpsies.org. Manual upload seems to be totally broken... Garmin really must fix this asap.

I'm having the same issue, can't upload to Garmin Connect with my GPSmap 62s. Spent 40 minutes on the phone with Garmin tech support; they suggested I try Google Chrome (didn't work) and then suggested I upgrade my MacBook Pro to Maverick. I did that and still can't upload. I even took the computer to the Apple Store, they ran tests and determined the computer was fine. I would have appreciated the folks at Garmin saying they are having problems with the website. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    TRAVIS.VITEK found a door.

It's rough, not integrated, only usable in manually mode.... but it works.

    http://home.comcast.net/~travis.vitek/upload.html

Note: After clicking "Submit" then click your Garmin Connect tab then switch from Dashboard to Analyze or vise/versa to bring in your GPX file.

I tried every conversion and fix that I know of and I could not get a single GPX file from Benmoffat or Fedorico to load directly into Connect.
Also....I have 2 accounts and tried unsuccessfully to load several GPX files into account "A" that has previously been loaded into account "B" and were still there and functioning.

Garmin Training Center loaded both GPX files from Benmoffat and Federico with no problem so the files are just fine.

Garmin Connect is definitely broken regarding the loading of new GPX files.

When I saw the announcement about the new connect features coming I was hoping against all probability that they would somehow do the right thing and keep the manual upload function alive so I could keep using the service. But unfortunately it looks like they've decided to get rid of it. The official documentation for the new system states that the express software is REQUIRED to upload data.

Also, it's kind of hilarious (in a sad way) the kind of clueless morons they have working in customer support who don't even understand simple obvious things about their own products. If someone is trying to use the manual upload feature then they must have a reason for not using communicator or express or whatever the hell this week's implemetaton of the tool is called; support reps should be fired for even suggesting sending a response to a question like that that effectively says "Try doing exactly what you just explained to us you are not going to do"

I'm having the same as the other posters. I'm using a Dakota 10. I can upload to other sites, so files have no errors. Can someone from admin please offer a resolve. I've never had a problem until now! I don't really want to start uploading else where.

Well everything uploaded for me this morning... So obviously garmin have corrected the problem 'on the quiet'! I was almost moving to strava..
  • Some crazy Travis people invent some crazy solutions to a problem we all have.... Thanks for that!

Some people with some devices seem to be able to upload seemlessly. Others not. It is even possible to download a previous track and upload it again. It's all about the content of the GPX file and has nothing to do with "pending files" as is sometimes referred to.

Conclusion is: there is a difference in the track we have, versus the track that is uploaded finally thanks to Travis. What are the changes made? If we know that, we might have a clue for the issue! (yes, I did a compare in MS Word old versus new file, by comparing my initial file with the one I exported back from Garmin Connect, but too much little tiny changes and no real clues here).

Great but why not actually save us trying endless hacks to get it working and actually keep the user base informed that there actually was a problem and they're busy solving it. The cynic in me says Garmin probably just stumbled their way into getting uploads working again, all without even realising it. That would explain the radio silence on this issue. Now using GC, Strava and Movescount. The latter two are now compatible which makes life easier.
