Garmin Connect Upload Failure

I am using a Dakota 20 and have been uploading to Garmin Connect for some time.

I had some USB connection issues with my home computer (USB hub seems to have failed) hence connected the unit directly and it mounts.

The issue is that the current GPX file will not upload to Connect, either manually or by selecting the unit.

I brought the Current GPX file into BaseCamp and tried to upload from there - this failed. I therefore deleted the current GPX file, as I assume it was in some way corrupted and following a bike ride have tried to upload again - still failed.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I fully agree with FRANKP. The GPX files our devices generate are good as they have always been. Something has been modified at GC's end that renders them useless for this platform. Forcing a large number of people to "repair" their files every time they want to upload them is not a long-term solution. It was not broken until a couple of days ago. Why fix it then?

    Hello.

I'm having the same issues trying to upload .GPX files. What I have done is convert .GPX file into .TCX with "Trailrunner" an OSX app. May be this can help you to upload your activities... but it does not solve the problem, Garmin should fix this issue on his web.

  • This is the response I got via e-mail from Garmin...

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I am happy to assist you today.
Is this at connect.garmin.com? I would recommend uploading through Garmin Express. You can get express here: http://software.garmin.com/en-US/express.html This should solve your issue.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Not tried it yet. I have been using manual upload as I use a HR monitor and Temp Sensor with my Dakota 20 (all three items are Garmin Products). Does seem a bit odd that this feature is not working. I ride 10+ times a week so don't want to start having to rebuild files for every activity.
  • OK. Tried using the Garmin Express software sync and that does not work - says it is synced but nothing on GC.

Tried importing the GPX file into Basecamp and exporting it as a TCX file, then manually uploading to GC. That works but the temperature data from the remote sensor is lost.

KZP894: My OS is Ubuntu and Garmin Express does not work with it. But if you use Windows or Mac, you may just as well try it. If you do, let us know if it works. I do not want to switch to Windows for nothing. It probably does not matter that you use an HR monitor and T Sensor, the data should not be lost if you upload through GE.
  • Have tried Garmin Express (on the Mac) and it does not sync. It says it has but no data is transferred.
  • I mentioned that the TCX file had uploaded to Garmin Connect having imported the GPX file through Base Camp. What I did not realise is that it has no time or distance data. Strangely it does have an average speed. See image

"Strangely it does have an average speed" - wow! It is probably time to switch to Strava.

I'm having the same as the other posters. I'm using a Dakota 10. I can upload to other sites, so files have no errors. Can someone from admin please offer a resolve. I've never had a problem until now! I don't really want to start uploading else where.
