Modern Garmin Connect SLOW

Is it just me or is the new modern Garmin Connect site really slow compared to classic? Maybe it's just due to the increased number of users with the vivofits?

I have the problem on both my work and home computers. Even the mobile app seems to have slowed down. It makes it a real pain to use.

In addition to the performance issues; it would appear that the myfitnesspal sync is not working today either. Was there an announcement in the forum somewhere of a Website upgrade today? If so, please post a link.
  • Ridiculously slow. Will this ever be fixed? I have been a Garmin user for years, and the web interface has always been awful.

If you're not exaggerating, and you really do experience slowness "always", I suggest you check your computer and browser as Garmin Connect is generally quite quick.

This morning there seems to be a technical issue that's affecting the site, which I imagine will get fixed as soon as the techies can do so. (FWIW, updating shouldn't cause slowness or unplanned downtime if you're doing it right)

also - you really should be keeping a second copy of your data somewhere anyway, especially these days when it can auto sync without you ever lifting a finger either via Garmin Connect's own interface or via a third party like Tapiriik
  • Seems like the websites are being updated at the mo, I'd give it a few hours then try again.. It's not normally like this ... you've just hit it at a bad time.

Since yesterday I can't use the modern interface, I don't think it is a case of updating
This is the error accessing http://connect.garmin.com/modern/

    Error - Page Not Found
For one reason or another (mis-typed URL, faulty referral from another site, out-of-date search engine listing or we simply deleted a file) the page you were after is not here.

Correct. Scheduled maintenance/updates that require downtime should be announced in advance and it's pretty trivial to put up a banner page advising users of what's going on during the actual outage.

This is evidently some technical issue and I imagine there's a bunch of web, network, server, database, and management folks all on a conference call right now striving to figure out what's wrong and implement a fix. I've been on enough of those sorts of calls myself.
  • Problem fixed?

Problem seems to be fixed since a few minutes!

New to Garmin Connect after the purchase of an Edge 1000. I have to express my frustration at the site which appears to run extremely slow or else completely fails. After an hour this evening trying to upload my latest activity I am now presented with a Temporary Unavailable warning. Combine this with my frequent 'screen locked' warnings on my device (which also appears to be a known ( and accepted?)) condition, I'm tempted to return to Strava capture on my phone and access via their site.

Garmin Connect has been generally very stable, however the past 2 days have been terrible. There are serious issues. Just looking at the forums right now every single forum's hottest post talks about problems with Syncing.

Garmin. If you are moderating any of these posts you really need to put out a statement, improve your 404 errors, have a holding message on your site letting us know what is going on.

The issues seem to tie in with the release of Garmin IQ Connect, so you probably have a lot of people trying to download and play with these so it might simply be load. But during the CES show the timing couldnt be worse.

Please let us know what is happening.

Love my Garmin devices, hate them not being able to work for me.

I agree JoeKid. Generally, my activities will upload to connect without a problem. However, when there is a problem Garmin never puts out a statement saying that there is a problem or that it has been fixed. This leaves me as the customer frustrated, and wasting my time trying to upload when there's no chance of it working. F'n BS Garmin!
