Garmin connect = google maps only ?

Hey

I'm interested in buying a topographic map, but I'm wondering: this map will be displayed only in my gps (Edge 800) ? Or can I use it also on Garmin Connect instead of maps from Google, which are very poor compared to topographic maps ?

You can't use your "own" maps with Connect; the choice is limited to Google Maps, Bing Maps and OpenStreetMap. You could install Garmin BaseCamp on your computer; BaseCamp is able to use the map from your Edge.

Ok thanks.
How come I don't have any possibility to use Bing maps ? It's not even in the choices in garmin connect. I only have the choice between OSM and Google Maps

I don't know, maybe it's a regional thing? I've got three choices. Are you using the old or the new Connect layout?

I see. In the detail view of the course planner there are only two choices (OSM & Google); on every other page with a map you'll get Bing too.
