USB Device not installed Windows 7 - has been working fine until now

Garmin 510 - same cable same USB port same computer Windows 7 the USB driver has decided it does not work any more and I am unable to upload rides.
What has changed?
Can anybody help?
I have not had any issues with the usb drivers since I've been using Win7 64bit for a little over a year now. However I did have some issues with WinXP Pro and both times I just re-installed the garmin usb drivers. I don't have the link handy, but you can google them and download them from the garmin download site. The Garmin Communicator plugin will also install the usb drivers.
