Route Planning

I have just jumped in and bought my first Garmin, Edge 810. It was toying with the idea of getting the Touring Garmin but such mixed reviews put me off, so went for the option with much more robust reviews.

Now the thing that really did attract me to the Touring was the function of saying you wanted to cycle say 50km and the gadget coming up with 3 route options, either as a circular or A to B. Now what would be neat / sensible is if Garmin provided this route planning functionality in Connect but I have not come across it. So question is does anyone know of a www that you can plan routes in such a way and then import to Garmin - Or will Garmin sort this as they of course already have the functionality and a bit frustrating it is not available on all Edge products through Connect.

There is some route planning functionality in Garmin Connect, but it is fairly primitive. It can pick a route from point A to B, but it won't just make up a route based on the distance you want to go and where you want to start from.
