Modern Garmin Connect mostly doesn't work in both Firefox and Chrome

On my home PC (Vista), I am having issues with both Firefox and Chrome. I can't seem to get GC working on either browsers.

On Chrome, I get the dashboard with the widgets of, say, sleep, steps, activities, etc. However, I am unable to get the full view of sleep or steps whether I select from the side bar or from the widget. And those are exactly the two views that show the information from my new vivofit.

On Firefox, I get no data. When I log in, I get a blue background with the left side bar. I cannot get any of the sidebar menus to show, however, or select anything. I've cleared cache, cookies on both browsers, with no difference in results.

Something that worked for me to get to upload was, edit the url by deleting a character or two from the word modern, e.g. mod, then press return, it will go to classic view with an error message, then you get all the old interface that you can navigate and upload. Hope it helps
  • I know for a fact that Ghostery and AdBlock Plus can cause problems viewing the modern Garmin Connect site.

Other "modern" websites work without a problem with extensions/plugins. The old Connect did work so I'm sure Garmin can make it work too...

PS: Correction: Regarding Garmins software capabilities, which are below sub-zero standard, i doubt they can make it work. Well... if they can't make it work, no need for me to use Garmin Connect at all. There's better stuff around.
  • I had the same issue. Sorted by white-listing the site in the disconnect me plugin for firefox...

    R.
  • So how do I get back to the version before "modern"? I have not been able to upload my data for a week now.

Go to your profile on Garmin Connect (it's the bottom "tile" that looks like a head located on the left side of your main page) and click "Switch to Classic Temporarily"

I'm very confused as to why Garmin made such a terrible website that rarely works?
I regretted purchasing the vivofit within days.

No joy on FireFox, not even white-listed..., none of the "tiles" work. Garmin programmers are so out of this world...

I white-listed it on FF 30.0, closed the browser, restarted it and now I see the menu selections like I could in IE.

  • I updated to Modern on 19th July and since then have been unable to upload anything from my Forerunner 410 watch. I can get back to "classic" but it makes no difference, I cannot upload. I've searched help and found nothing. I've emailed Garmin and received no reply. When I try uploading it finds the watch and says there's nothing to upload, so I know (?) that the ant device is working, or presumably it would error and say no device connected?

I have the same problem as the post above. Running vista and firefox.
I have tried both classic and modern to upload workouts to FR410 through the workout page and also the calender page.
When I restart my browser and go to the connect modern, it shows on the blue transfer tile that I have a workout pending but when I click send now, the following page tries, but fails to load "connectagent://launch"
Does anyone have a solution to this yet, its really bugging me now that I can't send workouts to device. Completed workouts sync no probs at all as soon as I power up the computer, so I know the Ant agnet and my watch are working just fine.
This is really poor from Garmin and their lack of support on this issue is truely shocking, by a large multi-national, probably multi-billion dollar company.
How can they get it so wrong? Did they do no testing before release?
How do I "whitelist" in the Extensions and Plug-ins? In both tabs, they show Garmin Communicator 4.2.0.0 is active.

    *EDIT*

As soon as I wrote this post, I closed all browsers and reloaded firefox into classic Connect. Kept Ant agent running. Tried to send again as a single workout and it went successfully! I dont know what fixed it or what changed, but for tomorrows workout, I'm sorted.
This seems very hit and miss, Garmin needs to sort this, my confidence is falling each time I try to sned data and by the sounds of this forum, I'm not alone!
