City Navigator Maps in Garmin Connect?
Former Member
Is it possible to use the City Navigator map I own in Garmin Connect? I see I have a choice of using the OpenStreets map, Bing or Google maps ... but can't seem to find any options for pointing it towards the City Navigator map I purchased on CD and have loaded onto my PC locally. Is this something that's not supported ... or have I simply not looked hard enough to find where/how it's done?
Thanks for the response! My questions was in part - pure curiosity as I try to get my head around how this patchwork of Garmin of software products work (I'm roughly two weeks into owning my Garmin Edge 810 at this point). However, it was in part because at this point - I'm more comfortable using Garmin Connect as a route planning tool than I am with using Base Camp. Garmin Connect's "connect the dots" approach to create a simple route and save it off approach has been simple and intuitive. I realize that Base Camp provides a route planning interface that is far more robust - it's also a bit more complicated. My biggest headache at this point is that I haven't yet figured out how to display only the route that I want to work with. For reasons I haven't yet figured out - ALL the routes that I've created appear on the map display within base camp. Since everything I'd created so far start from my home - and radiate out from there every one of the routes I've created share some (if not many) common elements. I'm finding that I'm "damaging" existing routes as I'm "connecting the dots" to create new routes share the common segments. I recognize that this is my problem because I haven't yet completely figured out the Base Camp interface - however, until I do - I prefer the simplicity of Garmin Connect's planning tool.
