Garmin Connect Update?

Former Member
Former Member
I received a notice when logging into Garmin Connect about a month or so ago letting me know about an upcoming update to the site. It explained that once the update was ready I would receive a notice in the tool bar at the top of the page. I have not seen this pop up yet and the previous link that held this information is now gone. I am seeing reference to "the new Garmin Connect" all over the place. Am I missing something here?
I've tried emailing customer support but no matter which option I choose as my area of interest the page errors out and will not let me submit anything.

can anyone please tell me on the new gc where the upload button is??

having to go back to the old gc to upload

    cheers nick
  • I have a new user and an old one. On the old one, I am able to switch to modern view, but not on the new one.
Anyone has an insight on that?

From what we understand, the modern Garmin Connect is being rolled out slowly. This means it will be enabled for some accounts, but not for others. You happen to have access to one account that is enabled and another that isn't.

can anyone please tell me on the new gc where the upload button is?

Don't thread hijack. If you have a question that is not the same or closely related to the original, create a new thread.

I tried to make the switch to modern, now get the blue(ish) screen with the 4 icons but they don't do anything when I click on them...so I cant even go back to classic temporarily - I have nothing!!! Anyone able to help???
  • What browser? Firefox? You might try another browser. Additionally, it is bad etiquette to thread hijack. If you have a question that isn't directly related to the original topic, create a new thread and ask there.

I'm going through the same thing right now!! Did you ever get an answer to this? I've been calling Garmin since last night, and the wait time is over 35 minutes. This is extremely frustrating! I can't access anything at all, since I got that blue screen with 4 icons!

if you switch to Modern can you still use Strava as when I switched to Garmin Express a couple of months ago it would not link/ download automatically activities to Strava and I had to disconnect Garmin Express to use Strava again, I think this was on purpose to get people out of Strava, is this still the same?

If you are using any browser plugins, try disabling them. If that doesn't work you might have a look around the forums. I know that several people have complained about this and were able to find a solution. I'm just not seeing the post right now.

Yes. The functionality that Strava was using was provided by the Garmin Communicator Plugin, which is no longer supported. It will work, but it isn't compatible with Garmin Express. You have a few options if you want to upload your activities to Strava.

    • You can manually upload your activities. You can do this by going to the activities page and clicking the Import button. Browse for files in the C:\ProgramData\Garmin\GarminConnect folder, and then select the ones you want to upload.
    • Use a 3rdparty service (tapiriik) to sync your activities.
    • Continue using the Garmin Communicator Plugin, but copy/link the directory containing the fit files so that the plugin can find them.

Agreed on the modern train wreck. I logged onto this forum just to see how I could revert back to the old connect temporarily.

Count yourself lucky that you don't have the "modern" version of Connect. It's so "modern" that it doesn't recognize my FR70 at all. It's more like Garmin Disconnect now.

The new Garmin connect is horrible. Very upset.
