Garmin Connect Update?

I received a notice when logging into Garmin Connect about a month or so ago letting me know about an upcoming update to the site. It explained that once the update was ready I would receive a notice in the tool bar at the top of the page. I have not seen this pop up yet and the previous link that held this information is now gone. I am seeing reference to "the new Garmin Connect" all over the place. Am I missing something here?
I've tried emailing customer support but no matter which option I choose as my area of interest the page errors out and will not let me submit anything.
  • Just be patient. The modern Garmin Connect hasn't been rolled out to everyone yet. Unless something has changed, only VivoFit users have access. I'm sure you'll get access when the service is ready for you.

You are not missing anything. The "Modern" GC is a modern train wreck.

Here in France we (I) only have access to the "old" GC, which was already a train wreck. If the "new" GC is also a train wreck, that would really suck. But hey, we're used to this by now.
  • The new "modern" GC is cumbersome to use and get used to as a longtime user of GC (3+ years with my FR305 and FR610). There are a couple neat features but a some of it appears to just render the classic GC in the modern skin and it is much much slower than the classic GC. There are many missing pieces which require one to keep going back to classic. The modern GC is nice for the vivofit stats and reports. It's more of a dashboard interface. However, to you can't get to groups, calendar, courses, training plans, health, useful reports, etc. which I used heavily when training using my FR610. The dashboard is nice for "at a glance" but I hope they don't get rid of classic anytime soon. They will get it right and have a nice balance of each. The interface feels rushed as if they were just trying to get something to market with the vivofit. This is a whole new thing for Garmin. They are trying to make it more social with challenges and etc.

Anyone know how to switch views from Modern to Classic? I have Edge, Forerunner and Viviofit. Can't find a way to get out of Modern to use the other devices. There is supposed to be a option next to the profile icon in Modern... but I don't see it. Train wreck... understatement. Don't know how Garmin can make such great devices (which they do, love them all... but have such a lousy software team. They need to recruit some engineers from Strava and SportTracks if they hope to ever be competitive in this area.

I just got my Vivofit yesterday, when I sync'd it with my laptop the "Modern" GarminConnect installed on my system. I really like it ~ am enjoying discovering all it has to offer. Although...if anyone knows where the calendar is, I would appreciate knowing how to find it. I like the stats my calendar gives me.

On the left side of the screen there is a column of 4 icons, the bottom one is a person. Open that, which gives you a new window. The top option on the new window is "Switch to Classic Temporarily".
  • DCRainMaker has been talking about the new Modern GC for awhile and he also calls it a complete and total train wreck. I'm hoping they've paused rolling it out to non Vivofit users until they're able to significantly improve it.

I discovered this am that I would need to buy a new computer to use the new modern Garmin Connect. I have an Apple MacBook Air and I would not describe it as obsolete. Can we please have the old Garmin Connect back, please.

The tech that helped me was great and very knowlegable, hats off to Garmin for having great people to help us.

I have a new user and an old one. On the old one, I am able to switch to modern view, but not on the new one.
Anyone has an insight on that?
