Garmin Edge 810 lost pairing with some (but not all) ANT+ sensors mid ride.

Just curious if anyone else had seen this before.

On a 300km brevet, my Garmin lost connection to my ANT+ PowerTap power meter and the ANT+ rpm sensor. The rpm is fed from the sensor bundled with the Garmin Edge 810. The speed sensor on the same unit stayed paired to the 810 and worked fine for the remainder of the ride.

Is there a way to re-pair the devices mid ride without losing data?

My Garmin Edge 500 loses connection with my power meter every time I connect my Edge with my computer to download my results. I have to repair it over again when I want to use it again the next day.

Is there any way to make sure that the connection stays paired?
