How do I do a software update?

When I go into the 'connect' app on my iPhone then into 'devices' it says in green lettering 'Software update available' but I can't find how to do the update.
It depends on the device. Some devices require that the software be uploaded with an application (Garmin Express, ANT Agent), others allow you download files into specific places on their storage space, and apparently some can do the download directly over wifi.
You should be able to find the information you need by looking at your manual, or by looking at the at the information posted on the support page for your device.
