Edge 800 won't sync anymore on garmin Connect

So I'm using Mac with Safari but the problem also occurs in Firefox.

Garmin Express keeps telling me "Sync error" but no details.

On Garmin Connect uploading just keeps going and going... no result.

It used to work fine before installing Garmin Express.

Restarting: no difference. Clearing browser cache: no difference.

Help would be grately appreciated.

    Hi, I have the same problem since a week now, I have Garmin express installed and it does recognise my device but I get in garmin express the error message "sorry, we couldn't sync your device, try again"
    everything was working fine till last week, I uninstalled and re-installed Garmin Express with no success, I sent an email to Garmin support and after 5 days, no reply...
    I have an edge 800, and plug to a MAC
    not sure what to do next... , if somebody has an idea, I appreciate it
  • Try using manual uploads. The Edge 800 should be mounted as a disk on your Desktop, and your activities will be in GARMIN/Garmin/Activities. How to do a manual upload depends on whether you're using Connect Modern or Connect Classic. On Classic, the Upload button is everywhere, on Modern it's at http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activities, click on "Import".

    Are you running anti-virus software (why?) or do you dual boot your Mac into another OS besides OS X? I've read that both can interfere with the proper functioning of USB.

    Hi Shinder, Thx for your reply it was very helpful I succeeded to upload the way you advised. I have an antivirus (avast) but I had it always and without special install the sync stopped to work giving me the error message.
    My Mac is running MAC OSX 10.9.3, no dual boot.

    Anyone discovered a fix to this issue? I'm running into the same problem with my Edge800. Courses in my Garmin Connect and Edge800 are not synchronizing. Also, under Training | Workout not synchronizing. Heart Rate Zones not synchronizing as well. I'm using a Mac and Safari. No difference with Firefox either. Using Garmin Express software. Software launches and loads normally, when clicking on Send to Device it launches Garmin Express and indicates sending info to Edge800 but when checking Edge800 after disconnecting from USB data is not updated.

    Any help would be appreciated.
  • Any updates at all? The new Garmin Connect interface is awful - still can not find how to upload all new activities. And - I am getting the "There is no application set to open the URL connect agent://launch when I go to "send to device" a course I just created.

    I've had the same problem. Switching to classic view seemed to resolve the issue for me.

    I just had this issue for the first time tonight with my edge 800. I it was weird though because Express synced with Strava but not Connect. I usually syncs with both. Tried switching to Classic wouldn't work switched back tried express again wouldn't work tried manual import of the .fit file from the device with no luck. Tried training peaks or whatever the local storage Garmin Software is called and that part worked but still not working for Express just getting and error which it gives me no detail about.
  • Express doesn't sync directly with Strava, so your activity is at Garmin Connect somewhere, since Strava gets it from there. Judging from all of the hysteria on the forums this morning, they must have been doing something to the web site last night. It looks fine to me now, and all my activities from 2008 to yesterday seem to be there.

    This is bad, my 800 will not sync with the Garmin Connect. I decided to use the classic version and no problem. Mac and Google Chrome. Garmin please fix this already, its been more than year that you have known about this.
  • Chrome dropped support for plugins. If you still want to use the plugin, you'll need to use Safari, which still supports them (but probably not for long).

    Garmin wants you to be using Garmin Express. Once you have it set up, every time you plug in your 800, Express will automatically upload to Garmin Connect. Just like it did for me this morning when I plugged my 800 into my Mac Pro.
