Time calculation issue - not fixed

The time calculation issue is reported as fixed. It's different all right but not fixed. I uploaded my runs from the last two days and I'm showing a pace of 2:47/km. I'm fast, but not that fast ;)

Having the same problems with my 405 also. Very frustrating!! Any one have any ideas as to when Garmin will fix this Problem?
  • I'm also experiencing the same issue. Two recent runs on which I pressed pause midway through have their moving time stopped at the pause and not restarted, so the runs look half as long as they should be timewise. Has Garmin acknowledged this new bug yet and provided an ETA?
  • Wow, this issue is over 9 years old and hasn't been fixed.  I also found the Garmin course routing tool won't route me on a certain segment of the street, as if the segment doesn't exist.  Maybe Garmin hasn't released a new Connect version in over 9 years, and could explain the map data. This should be very simple to fix, either use the moving time or provide an option to use moving time or total time.

The pace of my activities is being recorded as expected. I do not see any bug there. There are three total times: Time, Moving Time, and the Elapsed Time, and all the corresponding paces as well. They are explained in details at Defining the Time, Pace, and Speed Measurement Fields in Garmin Connect | Garmin Customer Support

In a real-life situation, i.e. at a race, nobody cares about your Moving Pace. It is unimportant how many times you stopped or slowed down to rest. What counts is the total time you needed to cover the distance.

However, the activity stats show all of the paces, including the Moving Pace, so if you prefer just use the moving pace. Another solution is using the manual pause when resting - stopping and then restarting the activity manually will exclude the resting time from the "Time" and hence from the "Average Pace" used also under the title. The "Moving Time" and the "Time" of the activity will then be identical or very close to each other, and the pace used at the top will be the same as the Moving pace too.

  • Thanks for your reply.  I understand and agree that it depends what I want to see and what is import based on the event (real-life situation).  I think I am mostly thrown off coming from Strava where it shows the moving time.  It would be nice if we have a setting to display avg moving time vs. avg. total time.  Or display both with a avg moving time / avg total time.

I am more bothered by the map routing issue than this display issue.

There are all of them in every activity:

  • That is the detail page.  I am talking about an option for the activity and dashboard pages.

  • Unfortunately that's not customizable, but you are free to suggest a change to Garmin through the form at Share Ideas | Garmin
