"Time" shows the elapsed time even if timer is stopped

I use a ForeRunner 405 to record my cycling to work in the morning and back home in the afternoon. When arrived at work I stop the timer and start it again when moving back home.
The total time displayed on the watch is ~55 minutes. However, the Garmin connect interface shows the "Time" as more than 10 hours , which is the same as the elapsed time.
I did not experience this in the old version of Garmin connect.

three weeks on and still no fix :( Its such a fundamental thing, frustrated does not cover it.

edit: I potentially take it back, my times look right except 1 (19 minute instead of the correct 29, the opposite problem to this!). Not sure if its fixed or that I've not had to stop the watch this week :)
