How to add a nap with Vivofit

Former Member
Former Member
Hey there.

I woke up at 5 in the morning last night full of head cold and took my Vivofit off Sleep Mode. An hour and a half later I went back to bed and set it back to sleep mode. However, upon syncing my device, it counts that hour and a half I was up and walking around as sleep.

Is it possible to manually add a nap to the day? Or can anyone explain why, perhaps, it didn't realize I entered sleep mode twice?

    Any answers here?

I took a nap, but forgot to go into sleep mode...and I'd like to manually add the nap. The nap section doesn't seem to have a manual edit like the sleep section does...any suggestions?

Definitely would like to have a way to manually add a nap! Sometimes I fall asleep sorta accidentally or at the very least, the last thing I'm thinking is "Oh, I need to push the sleep button on my device." There should be no reason why we can't add it in the online interface. I'm not getting an accurate picture of my sleep because of this missing piece. It looks like I'm hardly sleeping, yet am spending long stretches of time sitting around doing nothing, when in fact I'm catching up on missed Z's.

Garmin, please add an edit feature to the nap, I just fell asleep for 2 hours and it only says I've been inactive!!
  • Let's say you took a nap and didn't set sleep mode. If you put your vivo in sleep mode after you have the nap, wait a minute, and then exit sleep mode, wouldn't that record show in connect? If so, couldn't you just edit that one-minute record to the correct start and end time?

There's no way to edit a nap...only sleep. Go figure.
  • Too bad. I regularly fall asleep in front of the TV. Then I wake up and go to bed.
  • It's a shame, Garmin didn't create a solution for this until today. It work's with fitbit..

I do that on occasion too, I just make sure that I set my sleep start time to roughly when I fell asleep in front of the TV. The activity tracker will notice the getting up and walking around and show that as "awake" time in the sleep movement breakdown.

Also, I rarely use the sleep mode anymore except for taking intentional naps, as I have found that the algorithms used by Garmin Connect are reasonably accurate at noticing when I actually went to sleep.
