Setting Heart Rate Zones on Edge 500

I'm trying to set my HR zones and am being told to go to GC, go to 'Settings'.... but there is NO 'Settings' tab anywhere. The Home Page is merely an ad for Garmin products and an invitation to 'Get Started'. Nor is there any visible 'Settings' tab on my Dashboard. What am I doing wrong or not doing right?
  • Sign into Garmin Connect. Click Dashboard near the top right. Once your connect dashboard loads, click your user name near the top-right corner of the page, then select Settings. Select Training Zones.

One problem is that you can't currently modify your training zones on that page. It is broken, and has been for a few weeks. I made up a page that allows you to easily modify the values in the interim.

  • I realize your post is from 9 years ago.  I still use an Edge 500 and have found it literally impossible to set resting heart rate from the device itself. It is happy to take me to the table where it shows a max HR value and the 5 zones it magically determined from somewhere and finally a slot for resting heart rate which shows _ _ _ bpm <--- correct, it has no value.  There is no button combination that allows me to edit anything on that display.  As far as profile --> settings on garmin connect....there is no such thing.  I am damn computer and software savvy so if this is operator error I'd be very surprised.  Seems Garmin would rather I buy one of their newer devices than help me. Any way possible to set the rest HR?

  • I've figured it out. In Connect, click on your Edge 500 under the watch icon in the top right corner. That'll bring up a screen with device settings and user settings. Click User settings. That brings up a screen where you can enter weight, height, etc. and you have your HR zones. If you changer from % of max to % of reserve you can set resting HR and you can tweak the numbers to sorta customize your HR zones. Hope this helps!
