Garmin Connect no longer works with Forerunner 305

Does anyone have any idea why Garmin Connect has stopped working with my Forerunner 305. I have the latest version of the plugin version 4.1. Now it keeps asking for a public display name but won't accept any I put in. I tried this with Firefox, Interent Explorer, Chrome, and Safari. All with the same result. Always get the notice "x could not save, please check your values and try again." Occasionally I get the message that a name has already been chosen. I've posted this before, but was hopeful this time I might get an answer as to how to fix.

Until a few weeks ago, there was no problem and I've used Garmin Connect for years. Now I keep getting this message that I need a display name, but any name I enter is rejected.

Forerunner 305 does not work! Is it due to latest windows 8.1 or?

I have the same problem as well. Strava and RunningAhead do not recognize that the Garmin is connected. I've also tried manual upload without success!
