VivoFit & Garmin Connect - New Features

Hi,

I have been using FitBit for a while now and because all my cycling gear is Garmin, I bought the VivoFit to have Garmin Connect to be the single source of truth for all of my activities.

While the VivoFit is a great product and I like Garmin Connect for all of my cycling activities, the VivoFit component on Garmin Connect is a little behind FitBit's web interface and mobile application.

It would be good to add the following in to the Garmin Connect application: (Web & Mobile)

- Water Consumption (How much water am I drinking per day?)
- Food Diary (What foods & calories am I consuming and how does that compare to the calories I have burnt)

Being able to track the above will make the VivoFit and Garmin Connect an awesome combination and I can then get rid of my Fitbit as I will have everything in one place.

Looking forward to hearing back from you to see if the above is viable.

Regards

I'd like the ability to merge activities based on time. If my vivofit records and activity, and I'm also wearing my gps watch, or tracking gps via a phone app, chose both activities and merge to collect steps, heart rate, and map all in one activity, instead of having to pick between two different activties.

I've been asking for this for a while now via http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/form.html... but still haven't see the feature yet. Hope to see it one day soon :D
  • Can I "like" this 1000 times? 2nd best thing about FitBit was silent alarms.

detailled step tracking - max distance in one journey

I'm very interested in getting visibility to the 15 minute chunks of walking I do, and track with vivofit. I'm going through physio therapy to regain my distance walking.

Using the 15 min step chunks I could track my approximate max distance over time. I still make my 10k steps - just in short bursts.

I want to track my improvement - share with my physio.

Same here, would love to use the GPS in my phone to track rather than a seperate phone app or simply integrate with third party phone apps (MapMyRun, MyFitnessPal, etc.) so we can see our runs/activities. Thanks.
  • I have a vivofit..... today got 28k on there before my brand new FR15 was charged & ready for it's 1st run. I'm replacing the vivo with the FR cause I just want the one device to be steps, gps ect...you know what I mean..... anyway I set it all up..... and it says goal of 30k (my own set goal that I never fail to meet) and I still only have 28k despite another 15k on the FR. If I could merge them then I'd have my step count for the day, but as it stands now the FR is not even listed on the step count at all :(

Please tell me I don't ahev to delete the vivo (will in the morning anyway I think) just to see my stepcount :( I wish the FR was smart enough to see what was on the site & say 'oh wait there is 28k we didnt do but another device on the account did.....let's add it"
  • When you switch (the first day) the new device won't increase your steps until after you get more steps than were on the first device. Tommorrow, all will be OK. When switching trackers, it's best to do it either first thing in the AM or last thing at night.

I could not do that.... the FR was ready by 3pm, I was dying to go running & was not going to wear both for it. I lost 15k on Friday because the FR didnt even add the steps at all. :(
