Why oh why can I still not log in!!

I have been using connect.garmin.com for a long time now. With in a week or so I will be upgrading from my forerunner 405 to a new Forerunner 220 (or 620 - still an open debate) but since the site upgrade I cannot even log in. I sign in and then see a scree that asks me to Create a Display Name (required). Whatever I put in there it tells me: Could not save, please check your values and try again.

The odd part is when I put my first initial and last name it tells me it is already in use - which I find very odd (not a very common last name).

So what's up? I do NOT want to leave Garmin (you've been good to me) but really want to get this cleared up before I shell out $$ for a new watch.
