Can't save new HR zones!!

I am trying to update my HR zone figures but GC will refuse to save the figures - they just revert to my existing set up.
Please help.
I have emailed but no reply.
I really need the zones sent to device before next week. Pretty urgent.
  • You should be able to edit them using this. The values in there are just examples, so you have to edit each field individually, but it does work (as of yesterday).

  • Can't save new HR zones

Same problem here on not being able to enter and save new HR Zones. Additional issues I'm finding.
    1. On the Garmin Forerunner 610 itself, it will not allow higher HR setting above 155.
    2. I typically use 4 HR Zones. My Garmin only allows 5 HR Zones so I'm forced to split my Zone 4 between two Zones.

Biggest frustration is not being able to set and save my Heart Rate.
  • I have a 610, and have no problem setting HR zone values from RHR all the way up to HRmax (actually, it allows values outside that range). I don't know why you can't set values outside that range, but if I had to guess it is because your HRmax is set incorrectly. That said, I don't see any way to delete a zone on the device itself, but I'm fairly certain that if you have 4 zones in Garmin Connect and upload the data to your device, you will end up with 4 zones.

You can use the above to make 4 zones. Just delete the last entry (and the trailing comma of the previous entry) and when you click submit, it will work. I just tested it.
  • Travis.....saw your suggestion just after I posted. Tried your method and it worked!!!! Thanks for you help.

That's great but why isn't the site working normally....it's only a saving / refresh issue - always worked before this last Garmin Connect update?

    Thanks

Thanks - figures have saved. But still seems odd that it's not working and the values have to completely match. Think they can differ as long as they are increasing inn value when inputting them via GC. Thanks again.
  • I agree with DomWhyte. The only way it worked for me was to set match the lower ceiling of the prior zone with the floor of the higher zone. Frustrating. Also...when I try to send the info to the Garmin, I'm getting an error message. Finally, when trying to manually input my info into the Garmin Forerunner, I can't set some higher limits, even though I'm ensuring the the HR Max is set up higher.

I also note (and have queried this with Garmin) that GC uses %HRR but has no box for %MHR - seems again a bit odd - okay so HRR might be a closer link to individual performance / fitness more closely linked to FTP / LTHR but many people still use MHR to set zones and it also works. Why not %HRR and %MHR next to that and therefore one can choose how to calculate personal zones.

Why not just calculate your personal zones however you want and just enter the raw BPM data?

As for why my little web form requires the ceiling of one zone to match the floor of the next, that is just the way it works. You can't have discontinuous heart rate zones. I just take the data and send it to the Garmin web service API. If the service rejects it, then you've attempted to provide invalid values. As I mentioned above, I'm not doing any error checking. I just threw it together on a whim in an attempt to help you guys out.

The form on the Garmin settings page does some data validation. It allows you to enter the ceiling value for each zone other than Zone 0, and it automatically fills in the value for the floor of the next zone.

Once the data is shown in the Garmin Connect settings page, I don't really have any control over it. If you can't get the data from there onto your Garmin using the ANT Agent, then I can't really help you.
