Garmin Express. Er.........what is the point of it?

I've down loaded Garmin Express and have been uploading runs, presumably through ANT+ stick which is still connected to my Mac. Garmin Express is telling me there are two uploads to install. I can't upload them because it says my device is not connected. How am I supposed to connect it? Is it via ANT+? If so, what is the point of Garmin Express if you still need the ANT+ stick. If it is via that, then it should be connected as my run uploaded to GC. I have also tried connecting directly to Mac via charger lead plugged into USB port but it still says it isn't connected?????

Get the feeling a lot of recent issues are due to roll of of new GC and getting everything ready. As a few people have pointed out, Garmin need to make sure things work before releasing them.

    Same here
  • If you have a device which communicates with your PC via an ANT stick, you will still need the stick to upload and download.
The charger lead is only a charger lead on these devices, it has only two contacts and not the four which USB comms need.

If you have installed GE but not removed the ANT agent, then your watch might still be communicating via that. You can uninstall ANT agent, set your watch pairing mode on, and pair it with GE. But I wouldn't do that just yet if you use any third party websites or programs which upload via the Communicator Plugin, because they won't be able to find your new activities. If you make sure you have the newest version of GE by getting it to check for updates, it will at least save the transferred activity files on your computer, but not in the same place that ANT agent did.

The point of GE is to integrate ANT agent, Express Fit, and a few other programs into a single one, but it isn't completely sorted out yet. (Other posters would probably put that more strongly :) )
