Bluetooth Linking to Android Phone

Hello,

I have an Android phone running version 4.1.2. I'd love to be able to link my Forerunner 620 to my phone in order to do Live Tracking for the upcoming NYC Half Marathon. Any plans to enable us Android users to do that?

Best,

Rich

Android users have LiveTrack available. I did one with my Galaxy S4 (Android 4.3) and my 620. Not sure, though, if Android 4.1.2 has the BLE API as it is required by the app to make it work.
  • That's exactly the problem. General Bluetooth LE support only arrived with 4.3 (and then only with phones with the right hardware). Older phones might support it with custom manufacturer software, but it's unlikely Garmin have the resources to find all the individual phones which might work and add custom programs for each one, realistically.

Thanks for the answers to this thread. Very helpful. Looks like I'd have to upgrade the phone to do live tracking via Garmin Forerunner 620.
