GARMIN Connect: Wrong duration data Forerunner 410

Hi!

I'm using Garmin Connect since December 2011 and basically I'm very satisfied with the tool. Yesterday I noticed that the time calculation and also the calculation of the heart rate is not correct.

Example:
Yesterday I ran 16,18km in 1:19:45. I had a short break (6 Minutes) and I stopped the counter on my watch during this break. After the run the watch displayed circa 1:19:45. After I had uploaded my data to Garmin Connect I was dissapointed, because the time displayed was incorrect and also various calculations were wrong.
Time: 1:25:45 (WRONG: I edited this time to 1:19:45)
Moving time: 1:25:43 (WRONG: This must be shorter or equal to 1:19:45)
Elapsed time: 1:25:45 (This is correct)
Avg. Pace: 5:19min/km (WRONG: This must be 4:55)
Avg Moving pace: 5:18min/km (WRONG: This must be 4:55 or faster)
Also the calculation of the "% of max heartrate" is wrong:
I had Avg. HR of 157bpm. My max. HR is 202 and the "% of max heartrate" must be 65%, but it is 77%!

I checked a former training exercise from 1. November 2013 where I had also a short break. There, the calculations were correct:
Distance: 22,27km
Time: 1:55:38
Moving Time: 1:53:24
Elapsed Time: 1:58:44
Avg Pace: 5:12min/km
Avg Moving Pace: 5:06min/km
Also the calculation of % of max. HR was correct!

I remember that in earlier trainings, these calculations were correct. Is there a problem with my watch?
My girlfriend is using the Forerunner 910XT and all calculations are correct

My Garmin watch is the model "Forerunner 410" with Firmware 2.30.0.0.

Please advise.

Thanks a lot for your support.

    Hi
Without going into duplication on details, I am having the exact same problems with my forerunner 405cx, very disappointing. Is this a glitch? or are we stuck with this?
  • Hi,

I noticed the same problem - Garmin are aware of this - see this thread that's on the forum:

Thanks for the link to the thread. Good to know that they are working on it :-)
  • me too i have the same issue 410.

thinks they made some changes to the web site and stuffed up the time using elaspsed time instead.

However the garmin training center shows the correct value.

For the record (and to help debug)

My problem is with a 405C. The watch shows proper pace and elapsed time. The site shows the proper time for each lap but the total time and therefor the average pace is off. (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/453883756).
  • I'm having exactly the same issues. My watch shows the correct avgs but the site doesn't. Thanks for the link to the thread on here. I'll check that out now.
  • Was going to ask this question on the other thread but it's closed...

I'd like to know whether when they fix the problem it will also correct runs that have already been uploaded or will we have to manually delete and reload. I don't want my averages for the whole year to be off?

How could Garmin have rolled out this change without testing it?!?!

Like everyone else, I am so frustrated that my data is all screwed up. How on earth could Garmin not have tested the most basic functionality of their product prior to making a change? It is very disappointing that they violated the most basic rule of technology and have interfered with the training of so many users.
  • this is fixed now. Thank you Garmin!!!
  • I have been having the exact same issue with my FR305, however, since the fix posted by Garmin my runs outside are now uploading correctly to Connect so that any paused time is removed from the overall pace calculation which is great. Any historical runs that were previously incorrect once uploaded again are now also fixed.
However, treadmill runs where I use a foot pod for distance are not working correctly. It appears to be the opposite of the previous error in that the time used for any calculations is just the paused time! This morning I apparently did 4 miles in just over 5 minutes!
