Garmin Express Upgrade Not Working With Garmin Training Center

Is anyone else having any problems with the new Garmin Express update? I downloaded the new software Thursday in anticipation of the updates that are coming for Garmin Connect. My 910XT transfers fine to my Garmin Connect account, however is not transferring to Garmin Training Center or Strava. Let me know if there is a way I can get the data to at least transfer to Garmin Training Center.

    Garmin training Center/ Garmin Express

    I also have the same problem, no data actualization to training center. It seems Garmin doesnt care about clients that do not have access to internet. Whem I am away from "civilazition"
    and no internet I use Training center to register and manage my workouts. Hope someone solves the issue.

    I have the same problem no work with training center, and forunner and sporttrack just fine with garmin connect.

  • From other posts I've seen, Garmin express does not put a copy of the activity on your pc/mac as did ant agent. And if Garmin Training Center utilized Ant Agent to get files off your device, then that may be the problem. As Training Center is not supported by Garmin anymore, they may not fix that part. If they do fix Garmin Express to put a copy of the activity file on your pc/mac, then at least you'll be able to get your data into Training Center.

    In the meantime, you might have to consider uninstalling Garmin Express and re-installing ant agent to resolve any immediate needs. Or switcht to Garmin Connect entirely, though I realize you give up some things the GTC will do that GC won't.
  • Apparently the latest version of Garmin Express does leave the files in C:\ProgramData. After you update to the latest version of the software, those 3rdParty services may just start to work (assuming they use the Communicator Plugin, and that the plugin knows where to find the files). If it doesn't work, you should be able to manually upload the files until a more complete solution is put into place.

    I actually just looked through all of the folders under garmin and did not find the files. Is there a specific folder that they would be in?
  • There is a FAQ here that describes the requirements and the file locations. I'm guessing that Garmin Training Center won't know to find the files there, so you'll have to do something about that.

    This is a real disapointment. :(
    I have used the Forerunner 305 for more than 5 years and switched to the 910XT this week. The GPS is perfect, Express works also OK. :)
    But Express can only upload the data to Garmin Connect? What if I do not have a (live) internet connection?
    I also want to keep using training center, but it cannot communicate with the 910 :( (like the 305).
    Do I have to do this manually?
    I have found the (Express) file locations, but how do I import the files into training center?

    I understand that the old (?) Ant Agent works directly with training center?
    I have also tried to install "Training Center with ANT Agent software version 3.6.5 with ANT Agent 2.3.3" after removing Express and all the drivers.
    Then the Ant Agent cannot find my watch. Does Ant Agent 2.3.3. not work with a 910XT?

    Yes, Garmin Express can only get the data off of your watch and upload it to Garmin Connect. If you don't have a live internet connection, the files are stored on your computer. I believe that they will be uploaded when a connection becomes available, but I haven't verified this. You may have to upload them manually.

    As mentioned above, Garmin Training Center is no longer supported, so you can expect that it will be more and more difficult to use since Garmin isn't going to exert any effort to make sure their new software is compatible. If you want to continue using GTC, you should be able to use the ANT Agent.

    I'm not sure. I used GTC for about a week a few years ago. I'm sure you can import the files, I'm just not sure how.

    The 910XT works just fine with the ANT Agent. After you installed the software, did you tell the ANT Agent to pair to devices? Did you enable pairing on the 910? If you do this, they should see each other.

    Currently I have my (5 year) history on TC. I have imported some training data manually (gpx). But if I have to do this one by one, it will take ages :(
    Is there a way to upload more files at the same time?

    I'm in the same boat - I have 8 years of runs in Garmin Training Center, and do not want to switch to an online only application. It looks like installing Garmin Express and syncing my 310 with that deleted the Garmin ANT from my computer. Reinstalled that, and now Garmin ANT will not see my 310xt. I thought that Garmin Express might actually download to GTC as I've had all sorts of troubles getting GTC to work in Garmin ANT (it would crash every time I downloaded, but on restarting ANT it would work).

    Garmin, you've lost a customer who has bought a 301, 4 305s, a 310 and a 910 (some of those are gifts) - I guess they got their money out of me, but no longer.
