Personal Record not detected properly

I recently achieved a personal record, however I always do a warm up before I begin to run at full pace and garmin connect only recognises the first 5km run including the warm up. So as my warm up is relatively slow my time was much less. I did the run as 3 laps and the second split records 5km at 20:00.7, but because of the short warm up when I select the personal record icon it tells me it took 20:22.

Has anyone had this problem, how can I fix it?

  • That's how Garmin do it. As GPS is inaccurate on distance then anything close to 5K will assumed to be race distance. If you wish to have only part of a file to be used you will have to edit the file to remove the warm up part and then re-upload

  • Just remembered, If you don't want to edit the file then you can just type over the personal record data displayed and manually adjust it.

    I am using fenix 2 and I had a tough workout yesterday (for me):

    Mile Repeats: 7 miles w/3x1 mile @ 8:20
    * 1 mile worm up
    * 3x (1 mile @8:20 + 0.5 recovery)
    * 1 mile cool down

    I am not the fastest runner, but I was happy to have run one mile @8:12 :cool: and I was expecting both my 1k and 1mile records to be updated...
    Hasn't happened...

    I tried to manually replace my existing 1 mi personal record (PR), but it is asking me if I want to replace:
    * 1 mile in 10m00s, to
    * 1 mile in 1h09m33s... I just can't click OK. :mad:

    This seems to be a similar issue... not trying to hijack the thread. I just find odd that I have to run only 1 mile to have a PR assigned...

    If you would like additional information, here is a thread I find useful:
